My boyfriend and I had something to take care of near the Arts Center, and we both wanted Korean food haha. There aren't many good restaurants around the Arts Center, and not much of the Korean food we wanted either, so we went to a Korean restaurant near Gyodae Station instead 💕
✔️ A restaurant near Gyodae known for great bossam and kalguksu (noodle soup)!! 😍 Let me give you the full review right away~! 😆🌸
Daseon Kalguksu (다선칼국수): location, hours and parking near Gyodae Station
Daseon Kalguksu is near exit 14 of Gyodae Station, with parking for about 3 cars right in front of the restaurant. Hours are Mon-Fri 11:00-23:00, Sat-Sun 11:30-22:00.

What struck me about Daseon Kalguksu was how big and clean the place looked!! ☺️🌸 Being able to park right in front of the building made things so easy 💕 Parking is rare around Gyodae, so a restaurant like this with parking is a real find... 😆💖

Turns out it's been featured on TV, and there was a sign saying solo diners and solo drinkers are welcome too 💕💕 The owner was really kind as well ><

Inside Daseon Kalguksu: tables and 2nd-floor group seating
At Daseon Kalguksu, all the 1st floor tables are spacious, and the 2nd floor is even bigger — great for group visits. Plenty of group customers were there too.

The interior was clean too, and I noticed a lot of group customers coming in — every table is nice and spacious~!! 🩷 There's even more room on the 2nd floor, perfect for groups!! ☺️

There's even a spot on one side where you can hang your coat~!! 💕

Side dishes: kimchi and barley rice
At Daseon Kalguksu, kimchi comes out first as a side dish, along with barley rice. The barley rice, which seemed to have dried radish and sesame oil mixed in, was especially good.
First the kimchi side dish arrived — you know how kalguksu-and-bossam places always have great kimchi>< The kimchi here at Daseon was properly seasoned too, so delicious 💖🩷

And here's the thing about Daseon — they give you barley rice too!! 💕 My boyfriend and I really love barley rice!! 😍 Wow... it seemed to have dried radish and sesame oil mixed in, and it was so, so good!! 💖

Ugh... looking at the photo again is making me drool haha. My boyfriend said he wanted two bowls of this too lol

Bossam (boiled pork), 20,000 won
We ordered the bossam (20,000 won), and the boiled pork was incredibly tender and delicious 💕 They said they boil it every day in a pressure cooker with a special sauce ☺️🩷 Wow... such a labor of love, this bossam 💖

Spicy octopus kalguksu for two, 16,000 won: how big is the portion?
The spicy octopus kalguksu for two (16,000 won) comes in a bowl so big it feels like a basin. We were going to just order regular kalguksu, but ended up ordering this instead...!! 🙊
Wow... the octopus dish really did come in what felt like a basin 😆💕 There's just so much of it, and the photo can't even fit the whole size — the bowl is seriously huge lol!! Both my boyfriend and I gasped the second we saw it 🙊

And it's not just about the quantity!! 🩷 It's packed with octopus, clams, and other seafood, and above all the broth is seriously delicious!!! 😍 My boyfriend said it tasted like it needed soju..lol (but since he was driving, soju was a pass!!)

Such a hearty spread, right~? 💕💕 This place was so good I want to go back again...🫶

The octopus was incredibly tender, the noodles were chewy, and above all the broth was so refreshing and delicious that we just kept slurping it down 😆💖

Mixed jeon platter, 26,000 won: what's on it?
The mixed jeon (savory pancake) platter (26,000 won) comes with beef jeon, shrimp jeon, and zucchini jeon 🌸 Yeah... we hadn't eaten a single meal past 5pm that day, so we went a little wild 🤣 Of course, since I have a small appetite, I took just three bites of everything and gave the rest to my boyfriend...🙄💕
The jeon came out freshly fried, so it was warm and so delicious 🩷

The shrimp were genuinely plump and large, and the zucchini jeon was tasty too>< I don't eat beef jeon much myself, so my boyfriend ate it, and he said it was really good 💕💕
✔️ Everything overall was delicious and the portions were so generous, I left Daseon Kalguksu really satisfied!! 💕 I'll definitely be back next time ><
Is Daseon Kalguksu worth a visit?
- ✔️ A place with generous, hearty portions 💕
- ✔️ A place where everything is delicious 💕
- ✔️ A place where kalguksu orders come with barley rice 💕
