Seodaemun hair salon crown-volume root perm: Salon de Supullim

I'd been letting my hair grow out for a while — pretty much untouched, all one length, long and plain. It got heavy and just hung there limply. This time I really wanted to change up the vibe, so I heard about a salon that's great with perms and headed to Salon de Supullim!

How to walk to Salon de Supullim from Seodaemun Station

Salon de Supullim is a quick walk from Seodaemun Station Exit 2. You come out of Exit 2, turn left, and Salon de Supullim is right there.

The consultation: medium-length layers with a C-curl

Ha-eun was my designer that day. I told her right away what I wanted — a medium-length layered cut with a C-curl. My hair tends to fall flat, so I said I wanted some volume at the roots, but nothing overdone — just a natural, effortless look when styled.

Ha-eun listened carefully to exactly what I wanted and worked through it with me step by step, instead of just jumping straight into it — she checked my hair's usual condition, how much volume I wanted, the feel of the curl. That built trust right from the consultation!! And she was so, so kind. Sessions can drag on and get a bit awkward sometimes, but Ha-eun kept the conversation flowing naturally the whole time, so the time flew by. Even while chatting, she kept checking that I was comfortable, so even as a first-time visitor I felt completely at ease.

Taking the weight out with a layered cut

First came the layered cut to the length I wanted. My hair used to be one long length with no layers, and once the layers went in, the weight was cut down and everything felt so much lighter. Even just from the cut, you could see the whole shape changing — I was already excited to see what it'd look like once the perm was done too, haha.

From cystine softening to the root perm

After the cut, before the perm, they did a cystine treatment. From what I understood, this was a shape-memory process that prepares the hair before perming.

Ha-eun kept explaining what stage we were at throughout the process, so it didn't feel like I was just sitting there waiting — I could actually follow along comfortably.

Next came the root perm, which was the thing I wanted most, to build volume at the crown. My hair tends to lie flat and makes my crown look flat, which always bothered me, but once volume was added from the roots, the whole silhouette felt so much more alive.

Finally, they added the C-curl at the ends. What I wanted wasn't a strong or tightly curled shape, but a soft, naturally falling C-curl — and once it was done, it matched exactly what we'd discussed in the consultation. I loved it!!

With the layers plus the C-curl, the ends fall light and the roots have volume, so my hair doesn't sag flat like before. Compared to the plain long hair I had, the whole vibe changed so much that I kept doing a double-take in the mirror, haha.

Care during the service and home care advice from Designer Ha-eun

What I loved most was how carefully she looked after me throughout the whole session. Sitting for a long time can make your neck or posture uncomfortable, but she kept checking in to make sure I was okay and made sure I stayed comfortable the whole time. She was kind without being overbearing — easy to talk to, but also thorough about everything I actually needed!!

At the end, she also explained in detail how to dry and care for my hair at home. Looking great when you leave the salon matters, but being able to maintain it yourself at home is what really keeps it looking good long-term. I don't usually put much effort into styling, so I was a bit worried, but she explained it in a way that was easy to follow.

Was the root perm and C-curl at Salon de Supullim worth it?

This wasn't just a cut and perm — it really felt like I finally found the style I'd been looking for. I'd let my long hair go untouched for so long, and finally making a real change turned out even better than I expected. What satisfied me most was that Ha-eun listened so carefully during the consultation and then actually brought that vision to life in my hair. Walking out, I didn't think 'this isn't quite what I imagined' — I thought 'this is exactly the hair I wanted!!' Between the easy conversation and the attentive care, it turned into a proper mood reset I hadn't had in a long time.

I'd left my hair completely alone for a while, just letting it grow long, and finally making a real change this time was such a good decision. The medium-length layers, the natural C-curl, and the root volume I wanted all came out exactly as I imagined, and I've been completely happy with it lately!! Having hair I actually love again has even made styling it more fun than before. This time, I really found my best hair ever!!!
