Namgajwa-dong hair salon layered cut and brown dye: Lian Hair

I went to get my hair done at Lian Hair Myeongji University Branch 2, a hair salon near Myeongji University. It's located in Namgajwa-dong.

Where is Lian Hair Myeongji University Branch 2 and how do you get there?

It's on the 2nd floor, right across from the Emart Everyday and Daiso strip. Since it's right in front of Myeongji University, the commercial area seems really good — I bet a lot of students go there.

Go up to the 2nd floor of the building and you'll find Lian Hair. The stairs aren't too high, so it's not hard to get to even without an elevator.

Inside the salon and how to book at Lian Hair

Going up to the 2nd floor, you'll find Lian Hair Myeongji University Branch 2 — super clean and spacious inside, so I loved it the moment I walked in. The staff were kind too, and even though it must've been hectic right at opening time, they guided me really well.

I was seen by director Taeyeon, and her sense of style was genuinely great — I really want to recommend her personally. I have a pretty clear idea of my own aesthetic haha, so I'm kind of picky and sensitive, but director Taeyeon satisfied even someone like me haha.

The interior was nice and clean, so personally I was really happy. There were quite a few people even in the morning, so I'd recommend booking through Naver Reservation before you visit!

From grown-out black hair to a layered cut and dark brown color

My hair condition at the time was honestly pretty bad. Because of wedding photos and the wedding itself, I just kept letting it grow without ever getting it cut. So the ends were pretty damaged and nothing about it was tidy.

My hair color was black. I told her I wanted a layered cut plus roughly a dark brown dye, and she really did transform it into exactly the style I wanted.

I was seen by director Taeyeon, and she was fast with her hands and recreated exactly the style I wanted, so I was super satisfied. I'd love to visit again for another style too!

While the dye was on and I was waiting, they gave me coffee and biscuits, which was so nice haha. Lian Hair Myeongji Branch 2 was the best, with great service on top of everything.

After the dye was applied, I waited a bit, washed my hair, and when I saw the color that came out, I loved it.

Why matte brown works for autumn

Isn't this soft, subtly showing brown color so pretty? Now that autumn is coming, dark, muted brown with lower saturation looks definitely prettier. Matte brown is one of those colors that looks even better in autumn haha.

Colors that are too bright fade fast, and I tend to get a lot of redness coming through, so this kind of matte feel suits me much better haha.

How the medium-length layered cut turned out

This is my hair after the dye plus layered cut. I'd recommend this style to anyone who shares my kind of aesthetic. The layered cut turned out so pretty, I was really happy with it. It has that upscale, clean feeling, which I'm very satisfied with.

I kept taking photos haha. Since it had been a while since my last cut, my hair definitely felt lighter, which I loved. Medium-length hair can look a little dated if it's all one straight length, but with this layered cut, the whole vibe was elevated!

Such a pretty layered cut! The brown color also came up a bit more after a week passed. I never wanted a bright color to begin with, so I really love this subtle matte brown feeling ㅠㅠ

The stylist said the color actually looked prettier in person than it came across in photos, which was a bit of a shame. Kind of like a foreign baby's hair color? Director Taeyeon nailed the style even when I only roughly described what I wanted. Director Taeyeon at Lian Hair Myeongji Branch 2 is the best, seriously!!
