Since my last haircut a year ago I haven't been to a salon or taken care of my hair at all, so it ended up half-wavy and frizzy — my poor, precious hair, sob.

So! I decided to visit Beorn Hair, the problem-solving wizard of a hair salon in Cheongdam-dong, for a consultation.

It's located in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, and it's super close to Gangnam-gu Office Station, so I took public transit to get there!

When I walked in there were already a lot of customers and the staff were busy moving around.

From professional equipment to premium hair products, everything caught my eye and I ended up looking around 🫧

As soon as I came in they took my belongings and coat to a personal locker, kindly tucked the key into my pocket, took my drink order, and set up a cute little snack table ☕️🍪

Why the magic perm became an inner clinic

Before starting the hair clinic at this Cheongdam-dong salon, they carefully explained one-on-one what each step does and how, and kindly answered every question I had — it really scratched an itch I didn't know I had.

First up was shampooing and buildup removal! They shampooed my hair thoroughly, applied product, and I waited about 5 minutes?

Then, with my hair still wet, waiting for the next step, they brought me another drink and there were plenty of magazines around so the wait wasn't boring 📚

Low-molecular keratin and 20 minutes of nano steam

This step floods your hair with keratin protein, then follows with nano steam and heat treatment.

They said the low-molecular keratin protein fills in gaps in the hair and opens the cuticle to help it absorb faster.

Steam puffing out from behind — such a cool piece of equipment. It felt like the equipment alone was already reviving damaged hair.

Scalp massage in the spa room

In the spa room, you lie down on a full-body massage chair while they do a scalp massage and coat the hair's surface — for someone like me whose neck and shoulders are always tense, that short scalp acupressure had a huge impact. Service was top notch 🫶

Music, the sound of trickling water, indirect lighting — it didn't feel like a hair salon at all, more like I'd come for actual healing.

How the hair looked after the 250,000-won clinic

The last step of the hair clinic is blow-drying, but since applying heat right after a clinic isn't good, they only blow-dried the hair and touched up the roots a bit. This is the raw result — dried, with nothing sprayed on — and honestly, compared to the before, isn't it totally different?!

My hair had genuinely been light enough that I'd describe it as flying away, but after the clinic it felt smooth and soft yet somehow had gained weight — such a solid, grounded feel! So fascinating!! 😮

I didn't even get any extra styling done, but my hair looks so much calmer now.
