High-layered C-curl perm on long hair in Seodaemun: Salon de Supullim
In short
Salon de Supullim is a hair salon on Tongil-ro 9an-gil, near Exit 2 of Seodaemun Station in Seoul. The writer's hair normally resists perms and drops out fast, so she brought reference photos; the stylist at Salon de Supullim first smoothed the natural curliness at the back, added a root perm, and built a high-layered C-curl perm. The long length stayed intact with soft curls falling layer by layer, making it the first perm in years that truly satisfied her.

It's been a really long time since I got a perm :) My hair usually doesn't take perms well, so even after spending hours getting one, the curl often didn't come out as expected or loosened right away. So this time too I brought a reference photo of the style I wanted, but I visited feeling a little worried about whether it would actually turn out similar.
But this high-layered C-curl perm — I love it so much! Let me leave a proper satisfied review after a long time getting a perm :)
Where is Salon de Supullim, and what is the salon like?

The place I visited was Salon de Supullim. There's a big sign on top of the building too, so it wasn't hard to find, and you could see the salon right away once you went inside the building.

Going inside, the salon was bigger than I expected, with a clean white-toned interior that felt bright overall.

The staff were friendly right from the start, so I could get the consultation comfortably.

They also gave me a drink and some light snacks to have during the treatment :)
My hair condition before the perm at Salon de Supullim

Before the perm, my hair was nearly straight and long like this. Since my hair doesn't take perms well, I mentioned this during the consultation. After looking at the reference photo I showed, instead of just adding a C-curl, the stylist looked at the details carefully to get as close as possible to the look I wanted. In particular, since I tie my hair up often, there was noticeable curliness at the back, and the stylist straightened that part out neatly first before starting the perm.
And to get the volume at the top like in the reference photo, the stylist also did a root perm together with it. I had simply shown a photo and said "please make it like this," but it felt like the stylist was figuring out, step by step, how to get a similar result given my current hair condition — I really liked that! >_<

Since my hair doesn't take perms well, the stylist explained that they'd focus the treatment on bounce. Since it had been a while since my last perm, I was worried about damage too, but they kept paying attention to my hair condition throughout, which put me at ease :]

Bounce-focused treatment really seems to suit my hair that doesn't take perms well! I liked that they got the curl to come out well while also considering my hair condition so the long hair wouldn't get too damaged.
How did the high-layered C-curl perm turn out?
And finally, it's done!

The moment I saw it, I thought "ah, this perm was a success!" haha. What I wanted wasn't overly frizzy or artificial curls, but a style that fell naturally along the layers with volume forming at the ends. With the C-curl added to the high-layered cut, the long length stayed the same but it felt so much lighter and had more of a vibe. Especially from the back, I really love how the curls cascade layer by layer.

From the front too, the curls fall naturally along the face, feeling so much softer than when it was just long straight hair! Now that it's finished, I can really feel how much care went into the roots, the existing curliness, and the bounce of the curl to bring out the feel of the reference photo I brought. Above all, since my hair usually doesn't take perms well, I worried the curl might come out looking ambiguous again this time, but it turned out really pretty, more than I expected, and I was satisfied.

The layered curls actually look prettier in motion than in photos :)
Is Salon de Supullim in Seodaemun worth it? Final verdict
It had been a while since my last perm, but I'm happy with the result, so I think I'll enjoy that freshly-styled feeling for a while haha. Throughout the treatment, the stylist kept paying attention to the style I wanted and carefully considered my hair type and damage level, and above all was so friendly that I had a comfortable experience. If you're looking for a style like a layered C-curl perm that's natural but still gives your look a change of mood, this might be worth checking out :)
