It had been a while, so I went back to Pyeongando Sikdang Sinchon Branch for some spicy soup to cure a hangover! Being close to Sinchon Station and open 24 hours made it convenient even for a late-night meal. With everything from soup to gamjatang (pork bone stew) to drinking soup on the menu, it's solid for a hearty lunch or a drink in the evening. And with dedicated solo dining seats, this is a place I'd recommend when you're looking for a solo-dining spot in Sinchon.

Pyeongando Sikdang Sinchon Branch is close to both Exit 3 of Sinchon Station and the main gate of Yonsei University, making it a great Korean restaurant for lunch.
A 24-hour Sinchon restaurant that welcomes solo diners
The restaurant is close to Sinchon Station, so quite a few Yonsei students were around. Just walk straight out of the red light and you're there in no time!
Inside there are lots of 4-person tables, and on one side there are around 4 seats set aside just for solo diners. It's surprisingly hard to find a clean, decent Korean restaurant around Sinchon, so being open 24 hours makes this one pretty useful!
The basic side dishes are diced radish kimchi, cabbage kimchi, along with chives, onion, and ssamjang (seasoned bean paste). It's exactly the lineup you need alongside soup — a clean, fitting combo!
How much do the soups cost at Pyeongando Sikdang?
Pyeongando sundae-guk (blood sausage soup) set is ₩15,000, sunsal-guk (boneless pork soup) set is ₩16,000, and bone haejang-guk (hangover soup) set is ₩15,000. Looking at the menu, everything from sundae-guk to the offal set at ₩14,000 was reasonably priced.

The best-value sets on the Sinchon soup menu
Since I was there to cure a hangover, I ordered spicy sunsal-guk and chogye bibim naengmyeon, with the sunsal-guk as a set — spicy sunsal-guk set ₩17,000, chogye bibim naengmyeon ₩12,000. Adding ₩4,000 to a set brings sundae and pyeonyuk together, and just one upgrade was plenty for two to share.
Spicy boneless pork soup loaded with pork cheek
True to its name, the spicy sunsal-guk had a properly fiery broth, perfect for curing a hangover. With cheongyang chili peppers in there too, it was spicy yet the kind of taste that clears your head!
What I liked most was that there was really more meat than expected. Probably the best among the Korean restaurants nearby!
It wasn't just a few thin slices of meat — thick pork cheek meat was piled in generously, so just eating the solids alone was pretty filling. Mixing in white rice made it plenty of food for a full meal~
Chogye bibim naengmyeon: cold noodles with a tangy kick
When the chogye bibim naengmyeon first arrived, the portion size alone was pretty impressive.
The meat topping was generous too, plus mustard-dressed chicken on top made it feel richer than most naengmyeon (cold noodle) restaurants!
The spicy-tangy mixing sauce paired really well with the savoriness of sesame oil, tastier than I expected. I'd recommend ordering one soup and one naengmyeon to share between two people~
What the ₩4,000 set upgrade adds: sundae and sliced pork
The set upgrade came with 3 pieces of chapsal sundae (glutinous rice blood sausage), 3 pieces of pi sundae (blood sausage), and even 5 slices of pyeonyuk (sliced boiled pork).
Considering it's only ₩4,000 extra, the lineup is pretty solid, so personally I'd recommend the set! Ordering just one soup as a set was the perfect amount to share between two, and it was delicious.
