Where is Eulji Baektan Ppyeogui in Euljiro?

Eulji Baektan Ppyeogui is a white charcoal bone grill restaurant at 110-2 Eulji-ro, 1st floor, Jung-gu, Seoul. It's open daily from 11:00 to 24:00, last order at 23:00, and there's no parking available.

I was trying to figure out what to eat for lunch in Eulji-ro when I found this bone grill spot, so I went for it!

Since they use two floors, it felt spacious even from the outside, and being right on the street made it easy to find haha

First floor: the open kitchen and the fire show

The 1st floor of Eulji Baektan Ppyeogui is a wide wood-toned hall with a fully open kitchen. Walking in, it was as spacious as I'd expected, and the warm atmosphere plus the neatly arranged tables made it feel really comfortable 👍

It matched that hip Eulji-ro vibe perfectly, and the staff greeted us so warmly that I was already satisfied before the food even arrived haha

The kitchen is wide open so you can watch the cooking happen right in front of you — every time a bone grill order came in, they prepped it with such care and put on an amazing fire show, and I thought, yep, this is definitely a trustworthy place haha

Beyond the bone grill, they pull off tons of dishes quickly and flawlessly, and you could really feel the care put into it

Second floor seating and restroom

The 2nd floor of Eulji Baektan Ppyeogui is set up for large groups, and the restroom is up there too. Let me show you the 2nd floor! The lighting was brighter than downstairs, and the seats were comfortable even for bigger groups.

There's also a restroom on the 2nd floor!

Even the spots that are hard to see or reach were kept spotless, so you could tell they really care about hygiene

Table setting and QR code ordering

Back to the 1st floor! We sat right next to the kitchen. On the table were utensils, tongs, scissors, plus a bone bucket for the grilled bones and small plates to serve ourselves —

There are aprons hanging all over the place, so just grab whichever one is closest to your seat 👍

Here's the menu at Eulji Baektan Ppyeogui! As the name suggests, they use top-grade 'baektan' (white charcoal), grilling at temperatures up to 1300 degrees so the smoky flavor really comes through. The dishes with sauce are spice-adjustable, so even people who can't handle spicy food can enjoy it ❤

and it was so convenient being able to fine-tune everything to my own taste like this.

What we ordered and what it cost

  • White charcoal bone grill (small) ₩39,000
  • Rice ball ₩5,000

Omija welcome drink and a basin of rice balls

They gave us omija (schisandra berry) wine as a welcome drink!

A glass of omija wine served as a welcome drink

Cool, refreshing and sweet — so good ㅠㅠ The natural sweetness of omija cleansed the palate perfectly before the bone grill 😍

They got the table ready for the food with mustard sauce set out too, eek

The rice came out first, and I was genuinely shocked — it came in what looked like a giant wash basin ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ ㅠㅠㅠㅠ. Once I calmed down and mixed it up for a bite, why was it so good?? I went in expecting regular rice-ball flavor but this was on a whole different level... this isn't just rice. Please, do yourself a favor and add rice as a side, it's especially delicious. I'm not even sure why — maybe the seaweed flakes?

Small white charcoal bone grill at the mildest spice level

Eulji Baektan Ppyeogui's white charcoal bone grill (small, ₩39,000) comes with about six big chunks, and I set the spice to the lowest level. The main dish is finally here!! Wow, the visual is intense... Right after ordering they put on the fire show right in front of us, and knowing exactly how it's cooked made me even more excited ㅠㅠ Watching them cook, there's no way it could taste bad — they prep it so meticulously and really lock in that smoky charcoal flavor 👍👍👍

And the portion was huge. Even though we ordered the smallest size, doesn't it look generous?

The generous small-size bone grill portion

About six big chunks came out, and the meat was so tender it just peeled right off the bone smoothly. One bite and it melted in my mouth ㅠㅠ Since I can't handle spicy food I set it to the lowest level, which turned out to be just the right amount of kick without any pressure at all, and the green onions grilled alongside had insane smoky flavor too..!! I'd seen reviews saying to add extra green onion and now I totally get why.

The seasoning itself was so good that personally I thought it was best eaten without dipping into sauce. And dipping the rice ball into the sauce... I felt like I could easily eat two whole bowls of that rice from the basin earlier — it was that addictive ✨

Closing yogurt and the verdict on Eulji Baektan Ppyeogui

Eulji Baektan Ppyeogui sends you off with toothpicks, hair ties, floss, candy, and even a yogurt drink. That thoughtfulness right up until you leave! A restaurant that pays attention all the way to the very end.

They handed out yogurt too, so I enjoyed that as dessert ❤

I never knew charcoal-grilled meat cooked over 1300-degree white charcoal could be this good... It's popular enough on flavor alone, but the staff are so kind and the service was so satisfying that I think this will become a regular spot for me 😍 I'd recommend it for a date in Eulji-ro, a meal with friends, or any time you're meeting someone special!
