After-work window seat BBQ in Euljiro: small bone grill, Eulji Baektan
In short
Eulji Baektan Ppyeogui (을지백탄뼈구이) is a Korean bone-grill restaurant right outside Exit 11 of Euljiro 3-ga Station in Jung-gu, Seoul. Arriving with her husband before 6pm after work, the writer took a window seat and ordered the small bone grill at spice level 1, self-made rice balls and a zero-sugar cider, and found the small portion generous: seven bones with not one dry piece of meat. The meat pulls apart with chopsticks alone, so Eulji Baektan Ppyeogui works just as well for a date as for a team dinner.

Euljiro 3-ga is already famous as a food paradise, and after agonizing over so many good restaurants, today's pick was bone grill. On days after work when you want something hearty, meat like this is somehow always the rule, haha!
Where is Eulji Baektan Ppyeogui, and what are its hours?
Eulji Baektan Ppyeogui is right there the moment you come out of Exit 11 of Euljiro 3-ga Station (Lines 2 and 3), so it's really a 1-minute walk. Hours are Mon-Fri 11:00-24:00, Sat-Sun and holidays 15:00-24:00.

The main photo looks completely delicious. We got there a little before 6, and already a lot of people inside were having a drink! If we'd been any later there might not have been a seat! For a comfortable visit, I'd definitely recommend booking ahead 👍
The window seat: an open-air pub feel indoors
The window seats at Eulji Baektan Ppyeogui have such big windows it feels completely like an outdoor pojangmacha (street tent bar). The window was open, but they had the AC running full blast in case of heat from the sun, so the temperature was just right 👍 These days it really feels like just being near a window makes all the difference weather-wise 🌞

Ordering by QR code, and the basin-sized lemon sour
The menu is also on the table, but you can order by QR code! Going into the QR code shows photos alongside the menu, which makes ordering a lot easier. There's soju and there's also "garo" (a horizontal-format drink) haha. If you order it, maybe they lay it down flat — a cute little touch I approve of.

Lemon sawa 🍋 served in a huge basin — I'd seen it on Instagram a few times and was curious, and it turns out it's on the Baektan Ppyeogui menu! We had brought our own drinks that day so we couldn't try it... ㅠ If you're going with friends, give it a shot!

What we ordered: small bone grill at spice level 1 and self-made rice balls
Our pick for the day was bone grill (spice level: 1, mild-ish), small size, self-made rice balls, and zero-sugar cider. My husband wanted to order kimchi noodle soup too, but I held him back saying let's try this first and order more later — and boy was I glad I stopped him 😂

The bone grill arrives. The portion was so huge I was actually surprised... this is the small, for 2 people, you say, boss?? It's really packed with bones, and visually it has a bit of a soy-glazed fried chicken vibe!

The highlight: charcoal-charred grilled scallions
At Eulji Baektan Ppyeogui, the smoky charred scallions served alongside the bone grill are the real highlight! Scallions are tasty even just grilled plainly, but grilled over open flame here, they come out with that smoky char flavor plus a subtle sweetness — it's insane 🔥

Self-made rice balls: seaweed rice balls loaded with mayo
You have to eat these with the bone grill so I hurried up and got shaping before I got dizzy. The rice balls are clean mayo-loaded, savory seaweed rice balls. They pair perfectly with the spicy bone grill 👍 My husband, my restaurant-hopping buddy, shaped them all nice and round — pretty skilled, this one.

Now let's try a bite of meat with a bite of scallion. Cut the scallion into bite-sized pieces in advance. Eating them together one bite at a time, the amount of scallion turned out to be just right!

Meat that falls off with chopsticks alone: seven bones, no dry bites
The meat at Eulji Baektan Ppyeogui just falls right off with a swipe of the chopsticks. Staff explained that the meat is so tender you can pick it all apart with chopsticks alone, and it's really true!!! The real deal has appeared!! 🍖 It's easier than grilling samgyeopsal (pork belly)... honestly the easiest meat there is!! Is bone meat really this easy to pick apart? I normally find things like gamjatang (pork bone soup) a huge hassle to eat, but with Baektan Ppyeogui I ate through it smoothly with zero annoyance.

So much meat clinging to every bone, it honestly looks like actual braised beef (jangjorim)!!! Not dry at all, completely tender and juicy meat. There were about 7 bones in the small size, and not a single one had dry meat 👩🍳

How spicy is spice level 1?
We're spice wimps so we went with level 1, but even level 1 wasn't sweet at all — it was just the right amount of tasty spicy!! People who like spicy food could go hotter for a whole different kind of fiery flavor!!

The open kitchen and the second-floor seats
Go into the inner seats and there's an open kitchen where you can actually watch them grilling the scallions! Open kitchen = confidence in cleanliness, and that was a nice touch too. And there are tables up to the 2nd floor as well!

Is Eulji Baektan Ppyeogui better for a date or a team dinner?
There were a lot of couples on dates behind us, and I thought, a date at a bone grill place — that can't be easy for couples in the early flirting stage...? But I needn't have worried — at Baektan Ppyeogui you really don't have to pick things up and gnaw and tear, so you can keep the mood classy and the food good, both at once. Since you can eat the bone grill without any awkwardness, it works totally fine whether it's a date or a work dinner — Baektan Ppyeogui, a bone grill go-to in Euljiro 3-ga. The staff were also super kind and the access is great, so I think I'll come back with friends soon~~!!! Everyone come have a drink 🫶
