Classic burger with non-alcoholic Jeju Nouveau beer: Daily Fix, Gwanak

Hope you had a nice weekend! A while back, my burger-loving husband and I visited Daily Fix Seoul National University Entrance, a well-known spot in Sharosu-gil. It's just 100m from Exit 2 of Seoul National University Entrance Station and free parking is available.

I'd heard there were branches in Gangnam main, Seocho Gyodae, and Euljiro too, but they were too far for me to bother, so when I happened to be nearby this time I decided to try it. The juiciness of the 100% Korean beef patties is nothing like franchise burgers, plus the recipe — developed by chefs with Michelin backgrounds — uses house-made bacon aged for 100 hours and cheese-topped fries, and it was genuinely delicious. It goes well with soda, but non-alcoholic beer pairs just as nicely, and it's great for solo dining too.

Getting to Daily Fix Seoul National University Entrance and parking

Daily Fix, a Sharosu-gil favorite, is close to Exit 2 of Seoul National University Entrance Station. We drove, and it was convenient since there's an underground parking lot. Register your car number on the way out for 1 hour of free parking. The exterior has a hip burger-shop vibe.

Interior and solo dining seats

The layout has yellow sofa seats and tables, so you can sit comfortably while you eat. Red accents scattered around give it a stylish touch.

There are bar seats for solo diners, plus tables you can push together when you're with company. The clean interior and floor-to-ceiling windows with a view outside are a nice touch.

How to order and what we picked

You can order and pay all at once via the tablet on the table. You add a burger to your cart, then choose a set or customize it to your taste. My meat-loving husband went for the bacon cheeseburger with their own smoked house-made bacon, while I picked the most basic classic burger. For fries we chose the bacon cheese fries, and for drinks, Sprite and the non-alcoholic beer Jeju Nouveau.

The soda and non-alcoholic beer came out first. Even without alcohol, it captures that bitter edge properly, making it a perfect match for burgers and fries. Coming off a light hike, the beer went down really easily.

Bacon cheeseburger

A little later, my husband's bacon cheeseburger arrived. With bacon, sautéed onions, and cheese piled on top of the Korean beef patty, you get the full flavor of meat.

Classic burger and frill ice lettuce

My classic burger, with cheese, tomato, onion, and frill ice lettuce on top of the Korean beef patty. Regular lettuce tends to wilt under a hot patty, but the frill ice kept its crunch.

The burger is thick enough that just one is filling.

After mostly eating franchise burgers, this felt more like eating a proper dish. This is exactly the flavor that makes paying more for a handmade burger worth it. Delivery notification chimes kept going off the whole time we ate — it's clearly popular.

Bacon cheese fries

Fries topped with bacon, cheese, and sautéed onions. The basic fries that come with the set are good too, but if you're having beer, definitely order the bacon cheese fries. I was also surprised by just how much of it there was.

The combination of bacon, cheese, and potato needs no explanation. Part of me wanted to order another beer, but there were just too many fries left.
