The Jeongseong Mixed Katsu Set I tried at Jeongseong Katsu Chuncheon Hyoja Branch

A Korean pork cutlet restaurant that YouTuber Jjyang, with 1.42 million subscribers, has visited! I chose Jeongseong Katsu for lunch at this Chuncheon Hyoja-dong hotspot.

I usually love pork cutlets and eat them often, so when I heard that YouTuber Jjyang visited and raved about this place, I really wanted to try it myself haha.

The combination of thick, tender meat and crispy batter made for an impressive, hearty spread!

What we ordered and what it cost: the mixed katsu set plus sides

This time I ordered the main Jeongseong Mixed Katsu Set (₩13,900) with salt and wasabi options, and added Buffalo Wings 6p (₩5,000) and Jumbo Shrimp Tempura 2p (₩4,500) as sides!

After ordering, it wasn't long before the whole spread arrived neatly arranged on a tray haha.

The main Jeongseong Mixed Katsu Set was filled with a variety of katsu pieces made from Korean hanwoo-dwaeji pork with no gamey smell, and moist all the way through.

The golden-fried batter wasn't thick, so the crispy texture really came through, and biting into it released the meat's juices smoothly.

It was fun alternating between the two sauces, and even just a touch of salt or wasabi brought out the nutty flavor nicely.

The basic side dishes included fluffy steamed rice, warm and mild fish cake soup, crunchy cabbage salad, and kimchi and pickles to cut through the richness.

For dipping, they provided two kinds of standard katsu sauce along with salt for a clean flavor and wasabi for a spicy kick!

And the mixed katsu set even comes with jumbo shrimp tempura!

Buffalo wings, 6 pieces (5,000 won)

Buffalo wings 6p ordered as a side dish

The Buffalo Wings 6p side dish came out freshly cooked, with a chewy exterior and tender meat inside.

They were well-seasoned and salty, making them a great combo to pair with the pork cutlet bite by bite!

Jumbo fried shrimp, 2 pieces (4,500 won)

The Jumbo Shrimp Tempura 2p came with large shrimp fried until crispy, adding a plump, chewy texture.

Shrimp tempura really needs no explanation — crispy outside, juicy inside, the textbook definition!

It's more than fine as a Hyoja-dong lunch spot to eat quietly on your own! And with such a clean, trendy table setting, it's also good for friends or couples.

There's also a receipt photo review event you can easily join via the in-store tablet — and depending on the number of participants, they give out service items, so keep that in mind haha.

Verdict: is it worth a pork cutlet meal near Gangwon National University?

Jeongseong Katsu Chuncheon Hyoja Branch uses only 100% domestic high-quality hanwoo-dwaeji pork, so the freshness and mild flavor of the meat itself really comes through.

Next time I visit, I'm planning to try the cheese-loaded katsu or sweet potato cheese katsu lines, and grab some cold buckwheat noodles through the receipt review to try alongside!
