Bunk-bed caravan and charcoal barbecue in Chuncheon: Urban Slow City
In short
Urban Slow City is a riverview caravan and glamping campground in Nam-myeon, Chuncheon, facing the Bukhan River. Traveling with another family, we stayed one night in a caravan with bunk beds and an electric mat, added the charcoal and fire-watching set for 35,000 won, and grilled barbecue at sunset before trying the trampoline and water slide. The caravan has its own toilet but showers are in a shared shower house, so bring your own towels and amenities.

Urban Slow City is a riverview caravan campground right on the Bukhan River in Nam-myeon, Chuncheon. It has a wide-open river view, a trampoline playground, and even summer water sports and a water slide. My one-line review: the definitive dreamy caravan glamping site.
Over the weekend, I took a trip out to Chuncheon, near Seoul, with my kid's friend's family. I've done glamping plenty of times, but this time we booked Urban Slow City, a riverview caravan campground in Chuncheon that everyone had been wanting to try.

We left Seoul, but with weekend traffic it took about 3 hours to get there. On the way we stopped at the Nonghyup Hanaro Mart Seorak branch to stock up on meat, vegetables, and some tasty snacks, and arrived right on time for the 3 PM check-in. The moment I saw the wide site spread out along the riverbank, all the fatigue from the traffic just melted away.

What is inside the Urban Slow City caravan?
Check-in for Urban Slow City happens at the store inside the complex. It's a spacious, well-stocked store, so we stopped by there first to check in.

Ramyeon and snacks were a given, but they even had ice cream and aurora powder for that dreamy fire-watching mood.

Finally, we arrived at the cozy caravan that would be our home for the night! The exterior was so cute even from the booking photos, and it turned out to be just as cute in person.

An ice box and a gas burner were already set up too.
None of us had ever stayed in a caravan before, so we were all pretty excited — and the moment we opened the door, we were surprised at how much cleaner and more stylish it was than expected. There were even bunk beds, so it comfortably slept a family of three, and there was an electric mat laid out too, so even on a night with a big temperature swing, we slept nice and warm.

A small fridge, various dishware, a pot, and a pan were all provided, so there was no trouble cooking food.

The bathroom inside the caravan was clean too. (Showers, though, were only available at the shared shower house, and we had to bring our own amenities including towels.)

Trampoline and summer water sports for kids at Urban Slow City
What the kids loved most at Urban Slow City was the trampoline inside the complex. After a quick unpacking, we walked around the site and found it really spacious and well-maintained, with deck camping, glamping, and caravan areas all in one place.

What my kid and his friend loved most of all was the trampoline! There's nothing better for letting energetic little boys jump around and sweat it all out, haha.

Over by the river, there's a well-set-up water slide and water sports facilities. There were also various water sports package tickets, so it seemed like it would be great to come back for a summer swim.

The 35,000-won charcoal fire set and sunset barbecue
For barbecue at Urban Slow City, you just request the charcoal and fire-watching set (₩35,000) in advance when booking. They deliver it right around dinnertime, like this.

We put the thick pork neck, pork belly, and plump shrimp we'd proudly bought at the Hanaro Mart onto the grill, and both the smell and the taste were pure art.

A soft red sunset spread across the sky right on cue, and eating dinner while looking out at the river was so full of atmosphere...

After eating until we were stuffed, there was no skipping the fire-watching time that had to come next! With the aurora powder tossed in, we could enjoy the colorful, flickering flames while looking out at the river too — 'water-watching plus fire-watching' at the same time.

A rainy morning and drip coffee in the caravan
The next morning, I woke to the quiet sound of rain tapping on the caravan roof. I ground the coffee beans I'd brought from home and made myself a warm cup of drip coffee... that mood and that sense of healing are something I don't think I'll ever forget.

That was Urban Slow City, a riverview caravan campground near Seoul in Chuncheon where we got to enjoy healing in nature alongside a wide-open river.
