Jeongseong Katsu is one of my husband's and my favorite tonkatsu spots!! This time we visited the Chuncheon Toegye branch. We already eat tonkatsu pretty often since we both love it, but this was our first time at the Toegye branch, so I was curious what the vibe would be like.

Spoiler up front: the store was clean, the staff were kind, and everything we ordered was delicious — a place we'd love to come back to! If you're looking for a good restaurant in Toegye-dong, Chuncheon, and want a place with lots of tonkatsu options, I think Jeongseong Katsu is worth checking out 😊
Jeongseong Katsu Chuncheon Toegye Branch hours and free parking

Jeongseong Katsu Chuncheon Toegye Branch is open 10:00 - 22:00 on weekdays and 9:00 - 21:00 on weekends. Parking is available, and the basement parking lot behind the store is free.

There's a menu board set up outside the store, so you can check what's on offer before you even walk in — nice touch.

Once inside, the interior was clean and pleasant.

The interior design was nice too, making for a comfortable atmosphere to eat in, and overall it felt well maintained. The staff were friendly, so even as first-time visitors we had a good meal experience.
What's on the menu at Jeongseong Katsu Chuncheon Toegye Branch?

Jeongseong Katsu had a wider variety of menu items than I expected.

Beyond the various tonkatsu options, there are set menus that come with soba (buckwheat noodles) and udon,

and there's even pasta and snack food (bunsik) dishes, so the range of choices was pretty wide. With so many menu options available, it's a good Toegye-dong restaurant whether you're on a date for two or grabbing lunch with a group.
Triple mixed katsu set and sweet potato cheese katsu set
That day we ordered the triple mixed katsu set and the sweet potato cheese katsu set. We already had high expectations since we're regular Jeongseong Katsu fans, and it was delicious as always.

The triple mixed katsu set was great because you get to try several cuts at once. Both the tenderloin and loin were tender, and the breading wasn't too thick so it stayed crispy — we ate every bite happily.

Doesn't it look moist just from the cross-section..? The texture was great and there was no gamey smell, so it was really tasty. If it's your first time at Jeongseong Katsu, I'd recommend this menu since you can try the fillet, loin, and cheese katsu all at once!

And then there was the sweet potato cheese katsu set we ordered alongside it. This was our first time trying the sweet potato cheese katsu, and it was way more satisfying than I expected.

There's a generous layer of sweet, creamy sweet potato mousse piled on top of the katsu, and it genuinely felt like eating a sweet potato pizza..! The sweetness of the sweet potato paired really well with the savory cheese, so even people who usually only order plain tonkatsu should give this a try at least once. In particular, the cheese in Jeongseong Katsu's cheese katsu isn't stiff or hardened — it stretches smoothly, and it's really delicious!
Salt, wasabi and the spicy tonkatsu sauce

Jeongseong Katsu Chuncheon Toegye Branch provides salt and wasabi as standard, and you can choose between regular or spicy tonkatsu sauce. For the first bite, we put a little wasabi on top and enjoyed the clean flavor.

After that, dipping it generously in tonkatsu sauce gave us a whole different flavor to enjoy.

The spicy tonkatsu sauce in particular is really good — it cuts through the richness of the katsu so you can keep enjoying it all the way to the last bite. It especially pairs well with the rich, savory cheese katsu — highly recommend!! We usually order the regular sauce and the spicy sauce separately and share them between us — both are amazing 😊

They're currently running an event where writing a Naver receipt review gets you a drink, fried shrimp, or cold soba. Groups especially should definitely take part. If three or more people in your party write reviews, you get a full cold soba dish for free!!😆
