I recently watched an episode of I Live Alone where actress Lee Sun-min went on a fun shopping spree at the Paju outlet.

Watching it with my mom, we were like, should we go shopping there this weekend too? ^^ And just like that, a Paju date was set. Since shopping takes way more stamina than you'd think, we figured we should eat first, so we headed to Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu, a Paju Lotte Outlet favorite near Paju Book City and Heyri Village, at the Unjeong-Ilsan main branch.

We arrived right around noon on the weekend, prime lunch peak time, so of course there was a wait...^^ Registering on Catch Table put us at number 29, but turnover was faster than expected, so the wait was only about 10 minutes!

While waiting, there's a little service corner in the store where you can grab cool sweet misutgaru (roasted grain drink) and crunchy injeolmi rice crackers, so there wasn't a dull moment — the time flew by haha.

Finally it was our turn!!! Walked in and it was already packed.

The seating is really spacious and roomy, so there were tons of families there — I get why everyone recommends this place as a Paju Lotte Outlet must-eat!

What really got me was the open kitchen where you can watch them hand-pleat the Paju mandu right in front of you — it just makes the hygiene feel completely trustworthy.

Overall it's a white-toned interior with big wide windows letting in warm sunlight, so it barely feels like a dumpling shop.

How do the Pyeongyang water makguksu, bibim makguksu and mung bean pancake taste?

What we ordered at Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu was the Pyeongyang water makguksu, bibim makguksu, and mung bean pancake. Even though it's technically fall, the sun was really strong and hot that day so I was craving something cold and noodle-y..!

So we ordered the Pyeongyang water makguksu and bibim makguksu, plus a mung bean pancake to go alongside.

The Pyeongyang water makguksu had a broth that wasn't artificial at all — clean but deep, the real deal...!

It's got that subtle, plain-but-addictive charm that's distinctly Pyeongyang makguksu, so it was easy to eat without feeling heavy.

Eaten together with the white kimchi side dish, it's absolutely delicious.

The Pyeongyang bibim makguksu had a spicy-sweet sauce fully soaked into the noodles, seasoned just right — not too salty, not too sweet — so it just kept disappearing...

A bite of the cool, savory Pyeongyang makguksu followed by a bite of mung bean pancake was an insane combo.

The hidden favorite: mung bean pancake (nokdu bindaetteok)

I honestly didn't have high expectations when we ordered the mung bean pancake, but the moment I tasted it, I was like ????? oh!!!!

Crispy outside, tender inside is just the baseline — this mung bean pancake is a hidden menu item, seriously. It's made with 100% mung bean and no added water, so the nuttiness hits at maximum strength.

Right before Chuseok, I told my mom, don't bother frying jeon, let's just buy this instead, it's better than yours — and even my mom admitted it lol.

What comes in the mandu hot pot set to go?

Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu's mandu (dumpling) hot pot can be packaged as a set to take home and cook. Looking around the restaurant, the hot pot bubbling away at other tables looked so good...

Couldn't resist, so we packed the hot pot set to have for dinner once we got home haha.

The takeout packaging was really clean, and most of all, the portion size was seriously generous.

Loaded with vegetables, meat, and Gangneung Chodang tofu, giving it a distinctly clean flavor, plus giant Paju mandu, knife-cut noodles for the soup, and plenty of broth — they cover everything perfectly.

You add the chili paste to your taste, then just throw in the vegetables, mandu, and broth and let it bubble — super simple.

The size of these mandu, though...? It had a clean, light taste like shabu-shabu, so even though it was a late dinner, it didn't feel heavy on the stomach — loved that.
