Paju Unjeong Korean BBQ on a Friday night: pork skin add-on, Tannae

My friend and I went to Tannae in Unjeong, Paju on a Friday! It's been a while since I've had such a genuinely delicious meal at a BBQ place.

Is Tannae Paju Main Branch a good group dinner spot in Unjeong?

Tannae Paju Main Branch has well-arranged group seating, so it seemed like a good option for anyone looking for a Unjeong BBQ restaurant for a company dinner. On this Friday, the seats were completely full.

The staff grill the meat themselves and bring it out to you, so even with a group you're not scrambling to grill — you can just chat comfortably over the meal. (*I edited the people out with AI so you can see the seating layout more clearly haha)

At Tannae, the staff grill the meat directly over charcoal briquettes before bringing it to your table. It takes a bit of time, but it's the best meat I've had in a while..! Genuinely delicious!

Tannae's menu and what two people ordered

Here's Tannae's menu. The prices overall are pretty reasonable, right? I liked the selected pork neck the most — just note that additional orders of it are only available in 2-serving increments!

Our order:

• 1 serving selected pork belly
• 4 servings selected pork neck
• 1 serving pork skin
• Side crab doenjang stew (comes free with meat order)

Before the meat arrives, they first simmer myeolchi-jeot (fermented anchovy sauce) over the charcoal.

The side dishes came out well too — there were even 3 different sauces, so you could eat according to your taste! And I liked that we could freely refill the corn salad at the self-serve bar without feeling awkward about it.

Selected pork neck: the best meat at Tannae in a while

We ordered 2 servings of pork neck and some pork belly, and the pork neck came out first. The staff had pre-smoked it so it was ready to eat right away.

It was my top pick of all the meat I've had recently..! I usually find pork neck a bit dry so I prefer pork belly, but...

Tannae's meat is thick but also incredibly tender to bite into — genuinely delicious!

The free crab doenjang stew that comes with a meat order

When you order meat, a stew comes standard — you can choose between kimchi stew and doenjang (soybean paste) stew, and we picked the crab doenjang stew! The crab flavor really came through, which I loved even more.

After the pork neck came the pork belly! This one also comes out about 80% pre-smoked.

I thought the pork belly was delicious too, but my friend said the pork neck was even better!!

Meat really does taste better when grilled over charcoal briquettes. We originally only ordered 1 serving of pork belly and 2 servings of pork neck, but it was so good that we ended up adding 2 more servings of pork neck plus pork skin!

The pork skin also comes out pre-smoked, so it had a chewy, springy texture! I like mine slightly charred, so I burned it a bit haha

Overall, Tannae Paju Main Branch in Unjeong had great meat quality and was easy to enjoy since they grill it for you. Meat can taste completely different if it's grilled wrong, but here it was cooked just right, so we enjoyed it until the very last bite!

The atmosphere was also clean and pleasant, so it seems like a good spot for a family meal, a date, or grabbing BBQ with friends. If you're looking for a good BBQ spot in Unjeong, this one's worth a visit! I'll definitely be back next time I'm craving meat 🤍
