Kid-friendly Mexican restaurant in Magok: fajitas at Pasta Course

In short

Pasta Course Magok is a Mexican restaurant near Magok Station in Gangseo, Seoul, where tacos, fajitas and pasta are served side by side. The writer sat on the outdoor terrace with her children and ordered the two-person set of chipotle fajitas and shrimp basil cream pasta, and even the kids who dislike strong spices finished the pasta completely. Pasta Course Magok is worth it for a family meal with kids, but indoor seating is small, so expect a wait at peak hours.

My husband and I usually love Mexican food like tacos and fajitas. But whenever we try to bring the kids along, the distinctive spice smell means they end up just picking at nachos or fries, which has always been a bit of a headache.

Then I heard about a place near Magok Station where you can enjoy pasta and tacos together, so we headed to Pasta Course Magok, also known as a go-to spot near Seoul Botanic Park! Even from the outside, the red awning stands out, giving off that exotic vibe you'd expect from a Seoul Botanic Park favorite.

Seating and parking at Pasta Course Magok: the terrace is the draw

Pasta Course Magok is a cozy space with about 4 tables inside, but the outdoor terrace seating outside is beautifully done and really appealing. You can park in the building's basement parking lot, and they validate parking after your meal too.

On a nice day like today, isn't enjoying a date at a Magok restaurant with an outdoor terrace just the way to go? haha

Terrace tables and the restaurant's exotic atmosphere

Inside there are only about 4 tables, a cozy setup, but the outdoor terrace seats were decorated really attractively.

So the kids wouldn't feel cooped up, we grabbed an outdoor table, and it was lovely watching people pass by with a nice breeze blowing through. It also seemed like a perfect atmosphere for a date course at a Magok restaurant. By the way, you can park in the building's basement lot and they validate parking after your meal, so it's convenient if you're driving!

Shrimp basil cream pasta the kids finished to the last bite

The dish we ordered for the kids at Pasta Course was the shrimp basil cream pasta. We chose the two-person set that lets you try both fajitas and pasta together.

The dish we ordered for the kids was the shrimp basil cream pasta! Wow... the sauce came out so generously that the creamy texture stayed thick until the very last noodle, which was amazing. The basil flavor was subtle yet nutty, so even our spice-sensitive kids said it wasn't spicy at all and cleaned their plates completely.

Mickey Mouse-shaped tableware for kids

I was touched by the thoughtful touch of Mickey Mouse-shaped tableware for the kids! Thanks to that, they were able to portion out their own food and enjoy the meal happily.

What comes with the chipotle fajitas at Pasta Course Magok?

The fajita at Pasta Course comes with spicy seasoned chipotle chicken, pork carnitas, shrimp, seasoned meat fried rice, 8 tortillas, 4 kinds of sauce, and salad. Finally, the main dish, the fajita, makes its entrance! The visual alone is overwhelming, right?

True to its reputation as a taco specialist among Magok restaurants, the portions came out substantial and generous.

The hearty composition of the fajita set

There were as many as 4 kinds of sauces served together, from salsa to yogurt sauce, and it was fun picking and dipping according to your taste.

There was also a fresh salad served alongside, and the lettuce was truly fresh.

The star of this fajita was definitely the chipotle! Chipotle is really trending these days, isn't it? Piled high with spicy seasoned chipotle chicken and pork carnitas, it had that smoky aroma properly infused throughout.

Wrapping the meat, shrimp, and seasoned meat fried rice into one of the 8 tortillas and taking a big bite was pure happiness! The spicy yet savory chipotle flavor spreading through your mouth was truly exceptional.

Self-serve bar and the one drawback: waiting at peak hours

On one side of Pasta Course Magok there's a self-serve bar with water and cups, and the store was managed to be cute yet clean. That said, indoor seating is limited, so there can be waits during peak hours.

On one side of the store there was a neatly stocked self-serve bar with water and cups, which made enjoying tacos at this Magok restaurant even more pleasant. Overall the store was managed to be cute yet clean, making it a solid choice for a family meal out.

"It's a Mexican restaurant, but the pasta is delicious too?" my husband said, looking very satisfied.

That said, indoor seating is on the limited side, so there can be a wait during peak hours, so it's best to time your visit well. For anyone wanting to enjoy Mexican food with their kids, Pasta Course seems like the answer! Before it gets much colder, I think I'll be back soon to enjoy the outdoor terrace atmosphere one more time, haha.

For anyone in Magok wanting to enjoy proper tacos and pasta at the same time, I recommend this as a genuinely satisfying meal!
