My friend had a wedding to attend at Seoul National University, so while I waited I went on my own thousand-mile search for good food near Seoul National University Entrance Station~ Ended up having a solo lunch of tonkatsu and udon at Kosi Seoul National University Entrance Branch, a tonkatsu spot.

Where to sit for solo dining at Kosi
Kosi Seoul National University Entrance Branch has a bar table by the window, which is great for eating alone. I went on a weekend, a bit late for lunch (after 1:30pm), and this tonkatsu favorite was packed!
Seems like a lot of people come here as a Sharosu-gil date spot too, but the window bar table made solo dining easy — I sat there and ate while looking out the window haha.

What's on the Kosi menu: udon, tonkatsu and rice bowls
At this udon-and-tonkatsu favorite near Seoul National University Entrance Station, the udon options include bukkake udon, tori ten bukkake udon (fried chicken thigh), maze udon, zaru udon, and ebi tempura udon, plus tonkatsu options like hand-breaded pork loin katsu and cheese katsu, and donburi bowls like katsudon, gyudon, and karaage don. It's known for its bukkake udon (cold udon), so I was curious about that too!!
The menu is varied, and if you want a bigger meal, you can add ₩3,000–4,000 to upgrade to a full set haha.
I originally planned to order the bukkake udon set (+tonkatsu), but I wanted to try the cheese katsu too, so I went with the half katsu! Ordered the half katsu set (+udon).

What comes with the 17,000-won half-and-half katsu set

The half katsu à la carte is ₩13,500, and the set with udon is ₩17,000! The hot udon comes in a pretty generous portion. It's served with tonkatsu sauce, wasabi, and pink salt to go with the katsu.
Hand-breaded tonkatsu + cheese katsu — a hearty amount of meat in the katsu haha. Salad and rice come standard too (salad dressing is provided at each table).
Hand-breaded pork loin katsu with sesame and wasabi
First, Kosi's hand-breaded tonkatsu! Made with domestic pork. Since it's the half katsu, I got one piece of pork loin katsu.
Sprinkled sesame powder over the katsu and tonkatsu sauce for a nutty flavor.
Dipped it into the tonkatsu sauce too haha — the sweet and tangy sauce pairs perfectly, and it's also great topped with wasabi 😋😋
Cheese katsu: how well did the cheese melt?
And then my favorite, the cheese katsu!! The cheese was completely melted haha.
I don't know why I'm so into cheese katsu lately..? So good haha.
The set comes with hot udon — can you swap it for cold?
The udon included in the set comes hot! If you want to eat cold udon (bukkake udon) with your tonkatsu, order the cold udon set instead ⭐️
The udon noodles were chewy. If the hot version is this good, the cold bukkake udon must be even chewier and tastier!! At ₩3,500, this portion is a great deal 🫶
Is Kosi worth it for eating alone near Seoul National University Entrance Station?
Sharosu-gil favorite Kosi has a nice variety of Japanese dishes — tori ten bukkake udon, katsudon and more.
I went alone and had the half katsu set, and there were plenty of other solo diners there too! With the tasty cheese katsu and chewy udon, I'd recommend it as a solo-dining spot near Seoul National University Entrance Station haha.
Kosi is over near the Haengun-dong food alley and close to Exits 5 and 6 of Seoul National University Entrance Station! This time I had tonkatsu and hot udon, but since it's known for cold udon (bukkake udon), I'll have to come back for that next time haha.
