I visited the Jonggak branch of Schedule Osteria, known around Gwanghwamun and Jonggak for its upscale atmosphere and excellent Italian cooking. Having experienced it firsthand, I think it'd work great for a date, a pre-wedding gathering, a company dinner, or a special anniversary meal. It's primarily a Western-style restaurant, and we came to try one of its signature dishes, the truffle cheese tagliatelle.

Where is Schedule Osteria, and how to visit from Jonggak Station

Schedule Osteria's Jonggak branch sits right in the heart of Jongno, an area with excellent public transit access. We came straight from watching a movie in Dongdaemun, and getting here by subway was really easy haha.

It's within walking distance of both Jonggak Station and Euljiro 1(il)-ga Station. Basement parking is also available in the building, so drivers can dine comfortably too — though parking is paid. I'd recommend booking ahead if you want a window seat or plan to visit during weekend peak hours.

Through the wide floor-to-ceiling windows, you get a clear view of Jongno's tree-lined street and the open downtown skyline. The view from inside is genuinely pretty, and that was a nice bonus.

Hand cream set out on the table

One detail that surprised me: there was hand cream set out at the table for us to use. I've seen that in hotel bathrooms before, but never at a restaurant table — lol.

That day we ordered from Schedule Osteria's signature pasta lineup: the truffle cheese tagliatelle and the classic lasagna.

One of this place's signatures is pasta finished live by grating an enormous wheel of cheese right at the table. I've had this style of pasta in Florence and in Busan, and honestly, this was the best of the bunch!!! It tasted so good, I loved it haha.

On a cart, they mix the hot fettuccine and cream sauce directly inside the giant cheese wheel. They also grated fresh truffle right in front of us, which added to both the show and the appetite.

After plating, generous slices of black fresh truffle and a rich cheese aroma fill the air. The flat noodles are deeply infused with a thick, savory truffle cream — a must-try dish for any truffle lover.

Bolognese lasagna layered with cheese and ragù

The lasagna catches your eye right away with its square shape. The cheese inside was well-balanced and it tasted great haha.

Bolognese lasagna dish

Layers of lasagna sheets are stacked over a generously spread ground-meat bolognese (ragù) sauce, topped with a heap of shaved snow cheese and fresh basil — a perfect combination.

The outside is oven-baked crisp, while the inside stays soft with layer upon layer of cheese and ragù sauce. The rich, deep meaty bolognese keeps the dish from tipping into heaviness, balancing it out well.

Iced drink ordered alongside the meal

We also ordered a cold iced americano and a tea to drink with the meal, both available in-house. On a date when time is tight, being able to handle the meal and dessert time in one spot was a real plus for the flow of the day.

This was a place where I got to enjoy upscale interiors, a live cheese performance, and deeply flavorful Italian cooking around the Jonggak and Gwanghwamun area. Next time, I'd love to come back for dinner with a wine pairing!
