In short
Chef Cho Shinsegae Department Store Gangnam is a master pastry chef's handmade cake shop in the Sweet Park basement of the Express Bus Terminal Shinsegae in Seocho, Seoul. After comparing the prices of the chocolate fig, fig pistachio, and mango peach garden cakes in the showcase, this visitor took home a Real Mango Rose No. 1 for ₩56,000, packed with an ice pack, candles, and a knife after staff asked about travel time. Featured on Life's Masters, Gangnam Shinsegae's Chef Cho is a cake shop in Gangnam known for its Real Mango Rose cake — this is Shinsegae Department Store Gangnam.

I stopped by this Seoul mango cake specialist, where fresh mango arrives daily and pairs beautifully with whipped cream for a moist, soft result.
A recommended dessert cake shop in Gangnam Shinsegae

Location of Chef Cho, Shinsegae Department Store Gangnam
The address is B1, Shinsegae Department Store Gangnam, 176 Sinbanpo-ro, Seocho-gu, Seoul.

This is the shop where the master pastry chef from Life's Masters makes premium low-sugar cakes, so you can enjoy a trendy low-sugar cake that's both healthy and delicious.

You can really feel the effort Chef Cho puts into creating combinations trendy on social media — this is where the Life's Masters cakes are made. I got curious about their fig pistachio cake, with the deep flavor of pistachio and the freshness of fig.

Finding the store from the Express Bus Terminal
The Express Bus Terminal, often called 'Goteo' for short, is where a flashy flower market, Gangnam Shinsegae, and the bus terminal itself all coexist. Pass the terminal, head underground toward the Gangnam dessert area, and you'll find four escalators side by side. Go down and Chef Cho is on the left — though you do need to walk a bit further in.
Look left and you'll see the words 'Sweet Park' on the ceiling. Just keep walking that way.
Head in on the left and look right — there's Chef Cho. Some sections belong to different vendors, so keep an eye out.
Lots of people were looking at the cakes — browsing, buying, moving around busily at this Life's Masters shop, Chef Cho Gangnam Shinsegae.
It's such a busy spot that I took a moment to really think about which cake I wanted.

Showcase cake types and prices
Chocolate cake, fig cake, mango cake — so many options, each a little different depending on the ingredients, so I thought about my own taste for a moment, and of course the beautiful mango cake caught my eye.

Chef Cho's cakes, made fresh daily with seasonal fruit, feel fresh and upscale. Besides whole cakes, there are slice cakes too.

Chocolate Fig Cake
This chocolate fig cake contains a whopping 52% cacao. I assumed it was a simple chocolate cake, but the harmony of cacao and fig was impressive. Chocolate lovers would find this cake wonderfully sweet.

Fig Pistachio Cake, mini ₩45,000
Past the chocolate cake is the fig pistachio cake — the gentle sweetness of fig balanced with the nutty richness of pistachio. Even in mini size, it costs ₩45,000. This fig cake is trending right now, and the combo of mild-sweet fig and nutty pistachio is fantastic.

Real Mango Rose, mini ₩39,000 / No. 1 ₩56,000
This is the Real Mango Rose. There's a mini size and a No. 1 size. The mini is ₩39,000, and the No. 1 is ₩56,000 — the bigger size looked better to me, so that's what I chose. Of course, pick based on your own taste and situation.
The cakes were disappearing fast — you can really feel how popular Chef Cho is as a top cake shop in Gangnam Shinsegae. The Real Mango Rose I tried was seriously delicious.

Mango Peach Garden, No. 1 ₩53,000
Topped with mango and peach, which is in season right now, this ₩53,000 No. 1 Mango Peach Garden cake lets you enjoy the sweetness of mango and the tartness of peach at once.
It's piled high with summer's seasonal peaches — a generously packed handmade cake.

Slice cake, ₩12,000
There are also ₩12,000 slice cakes available, so besides whole cakes you can pick up a single slice too.

The ₩12,000 fig crepe slice cake layers fresh fig and soft cream between crepe sheets for a gently sweet result.

The crepe cake with three kinds of fruit also looked stylish, with fresh fruit flavor and creamy richness in harmony.

These fruit cakes, topped with healthy and tasty seasonal fruit, are cakes anyone can enjoy — from grandparents to kids.

Taking home the Real Mango Rose No. 1 with ice-pack packaging
I went with the sweet, soft whole cake — the Real Mango Rose No. 1. The takeout price came to ₩56,000.

Since I was picking it up to carry with me, they asked how long the trip would take, and once I told them, they took the weather into account and carefully packed an ice pack, along with candles and a knife — such a kind shop, Chef Cho, a top cake spot in Gangnam Shinsegae.
Opening the Real Mango Rose at home — how did it taste?
Once home, opening it up, the beautiful Real Mango Rose cake seemed to brighten the whole mood.
It's a cake full of the feeling of gazing at a single yellow rose in bloom — no need for anything else, just looking at it is enough. Made with white cream using real dairy whipped cream with its milky richness, the Real Mango Rose has a subtle charm, its yellow rose-shaped petals looking gorgeous. Being real dairy cream, the sweet, soft whipped cream melts smoothly the moment it hits your mouth.
The shape gets messed up the moment you touch it, but the soft sponge cuts cleanly with no chewiness.
There are plenty of dairy whipped cream cakes out there, but Chef Cho's is genuinely delicious. The cream's sweetness isn't overly sharp either. The combination of mango and cream is spot on.
With sweetness plus refreshing fruit, I got completely absorbed in this bright, sweet, fresh-tasting cake. The sponge is baked well, so the bread part is really soft. Dairy whipped cream tastes better than vegetable-based whipped cream, probably because of the higher milk fat content. The sponge used in the cake is moist and soft too.

The sponge was made so moist and soft that I enjoyed every bite. This is a truly complete mango cake thanks to the pairing of 100% dairy whipped cream and soft mango. The rose style is gorgeous, and true to a top Seoul cake shop, it uses flavorful real cream rather than processed vegetable cream — a genuinely good Gangnam cake shop.

Only the soft, sweet richness of the whipped cream fills your mouth — not too sweet, but sweet enough with a touch of luxury. It's more nutty and rich than greasy.
Amid the flood of delicious desserts at Gangnam Shinsegae, this is the spot featured on Life's Masters. When it comes to Seoul's best cake shops, handmade-cake specialist Chef Cho can't be left out — I happily enjoyed a mango cake made with sweet, soft 100% dairy whipped cream and fresh seasonal fruit, elegant enough to brighten anniversaries, birthdays, and other special days. Highly recommended as a classy gift.
