A handmade burger spot with Euljiro’s cool atmosphere

Euljiro is a hipster haven, with hidden-gem restaurants tucked into every alley. Today, I visited BAS Burger, which has long been the talk of the town among handmade-burger fans.

It really had that distinctly cool Euljiro atmosphere.

The atmosphere hit me as soon as I walked in. Stylish lighting, vintage metal interiors, and upbeat music all came together to make me think, “Ah, this is Euljiro,” haha.

I had a milkshake this time because I came with my child, but the savory cheese bacon fries and BAS Burger would pair nicely with beer too. It is a comfortable place for a cold solo beer after work on a weekday, or relaxed pizza-and-beer or burger-and-beer time with friends on the weekend.

How the BAS Burger and sides tasted

BAS Burger

As the signature, most basic menu item, I had high expectations—and it really made me think, “Handmade burgers are different.” A juicy beef patty sits beautifully inside a fluffy, soft bun. The patty was crisp outside and moist inside, with a lovely meaty flavor. Fresh onion, lettuce, tomato, and the house BAS sauce, which had a little kick, cut through the richness perfectly, so it was nicely balanced.

I am a mayonnaise person, so I piled it onto my burger—and it was even tastier that way.

Cheese bacon fries

The cheese bacon fries, which I upgraded to from regular fries for an extra charge, were seriously delicious. Hot, skinny French fries were generously covered in rich, nutty melted cheese, then loaded with savory, chewy bacon bits. The balance of richness and saltiness was so good that they would make a great beer snack even on their own.

Cheese sticks

The freshly fried cheese sticks were peak crispiness. Their coating was thin and crunchy, while the inside was packed with 100% mozzarella cheese, so it was fun watching the cheese stretch with every bite.

Their savory, nutty flavor filled my mouth, making them a great side to enjoy between bites of burger.

Milkshake

A milkshake is what completes a handmade-burger combo, right! You know the fun of lightly dipping fries into a shake—the classic sweet-and-salty pairing food lovers enjoy 😍 BAS Burger’s milkshake had an impressively weighty, rich dairy flavor that did not taste artificial. A cool, sweet sip went deliciously with the salty cheese bacon fries and the burger’s juicy patty!
