Cheongdam date izakaya with a sashimi platter for two: Osa Cheongdam

In short

Osa Cheongdam is a garden-dining izakaya in Cheongdam, Gangnam, Seoul, about a 5-minute walk from Apgujeong Rodeo Station. On a date with my boyfriend, I took a terrace seat at Osa Cheongdam and ordered the sashimi moriawase for two (₩68,000) and shimesaba bozushi (₩38,000) with draft beer and highballs; the crunchy greater amberjack collar and the perilla-stuffed mackerel sushi roll were the standouts. With its retractable roof and garden mood, Osa Cheongdam is an easy pick for a blind date or a second-round date spot.

I visited Osa Cheongdam with my boyfriend for a date somewhere with a really good vibe — it had been a while. Honestly, the atmosphere, especially the terrace, could make you fall in love even if you weren't already. ♥♥♥

I'd 100% recommend this place for dates or blind dates. If you want somewhere with great vibes near Cheongdam, Osa Cheongdam is it! My full verdict is at the very bottom.

Osa Cheongdam location and parking — 5 minutes from Apgujeong Rodeo Station

Osa Cheongdam is within a 5-minute walk of Apgujeong Rodeo Station. Valet parking is also available (paid). It's on the 2nd floor of a gallery-like building.

Even just from outside, doesn't it already look upscale and lush, with a great atmosphere?

Osa Cheongdam stocks a wide range of Ilpum Jinro liquors that you don't usually see elsewhere, so it's a good spot to try drinks you might not have had before.

Osa Cheongdam seating — bar, private room, and a retractable-roof terrace

This is the signature interior you see right as you walk in. That huge tree and the lighting just radiate luxury!

Behind the signature tree are the bar seats, where the chef cooks in an open kitchen.

From the bar seats, the private room is to the left and the terrace is to the right. The room is also decorated with lush greenery inside. It's fully private, so it looks great for group gatherings or for having a quiet one-on-one conversation.

Next up is the terrace — the spot I completely fell for! ♥♥♥ It was perfect for weather like this. The combination of lighting and plant decor is so pretty, it felt like it could spark love out of nowhere.

And since the ceiling is open-air, it felt even breezier and better. Looking up at the sky from the terrace was especially nice.

For reference, the roof apparently opens and closes depending on the temperature. In case it gets cold, there are blankets at every seat.

Table setting and the pre-meal eggplant namul

When you arrive, this pretty, tidy tableware is already set up.

Before you order the main menu, eggplant namul (seasoned eggplant) comes out as a kind of pre-meal tapas. It's the perfect appetizer for an izakaya, whetting your appetite.

Osa Cheongdam is an izakaya with a 'garden dining' concept, so the interior is filled with lush greenery.

What we ordered for two — sashimi moriawase ₩68,000, shimesaba bozushi ₩38,000

As you'd expect from an izakaya, sashimi and sushi are the mainstay at Osa Cheongdam. My boyfriend and I ordered the sashimi moriawase for two (₩68,000), shimesaba bozushi (₩38,000), and draft beer.

What's in the sashimi moriawase for two

First came the draft beer and the sashimi moriawase for two (₩68,000)! Since it's for two, each type of sashimi comes with 2 pieces.

It included a really varied lineup: flounder, tuna, otoro, sweet shrimp, striped squid, sea urchin, scallop, octopus and more.

Of course, the first bite went to white fish — I had flounder and mullet, and they were so chewy and delicious.

Then I had tuna, Spanish mackerel, and abalone, which were super soft, with no fishy taste at all — they just melted away. I want to eat it again...

First time trying greater amberjack collar, crunchy like radish

I've been to a fair number of izakayas and eaten a lot of sashimi in my time, but this fish was a first for me. Apparently it's a pretty expensive fish — greater amberjack collar (jaetbangeo gamasal)!

But the texture... the texture!!! It was so surprising. It's crunchy, like eating radish rather than fish. I've never had a fish like that before — so surprising and delicious!

And finally, while eating sea urchin, we added a highball. Haha, the sashimi was so good we needed more alcohol!! Lol

Next came the mackerel bozushi (rolled sushi) 👍👍👍 This is genuinely a must-try menu item.

Cross-section of the large mackerel bozushi

Unlike bozushi at other places, the size was genuinely huge. ❤️❤️❤️ It was actually hard to fit in one bite!

There was just the right amount of smoky char, so dipping it in wasabi was delicious, and having shiso (perilla leaf) inside really cut through the richness! Highly recommend the mackerel bozushi from Osa Cheongdam's menu!!

How is it as a blind date or date spot? (one-line verdict)

Osa Cheongdam has an open-air terrace decorated so beautifully that you gasp the moment you step onto it. So I'd highly recommend it as a blind date spot in Cheongdam or Apgujeong! That said, it's a high-end izakaya so prices can run a bit high — I'd suggest it as a second-round spot!

⭐ One-line verdict — an Apgujeong terrace favorite, a vibe that practically guarantees blind date success, a Cheongdam izakaya recommendation

  • Pros: retractable-roof open terrace with plant decor, a private room, a wide selection of Ilpum Jinro liquors
  • Recommended menu: sashimi moriawase for two (₩68,000), mackerel bozushi (shimesaba bozushi, ₩38,000)
  • Note: as a high-end izakaya, prices run a bit higher — recommended as a second-round spot
