Free-corkage Korean BBQ with bar-table seats in Magok: Nokji Magok
In short
Nokji Magok Main Branch is a charcoal-grilled beef and lamb restaurant in the Queens Park Nine building on Gonghang-daero in Gangseo, Seoul. With a weekend evening reservation, the writer took a bar-table seat and ordered the beef and lamb set for two plus myeongnan pabap (salted pollock roe and scallion rice), pairing it with a red wine brought from home under the one-bottle free corkage policy. Staff grilled every cut and moved it to a warmer, so the meal at Nokji Magok stayed relaxed from start to finish.

On a weekend evening I went to Nokji, a beef spot in Magok 🥩 I'd wanted to go for a long time, so I made a reservation ahead and headed over — and it turned out even better than I expected, so today I'm leaving a light review of the experience :)

Inside Nokji Magok: the mood and the bar-table seats
Nokji is a beef and lamb charcoal barbecue restaurant specializing in refrigerated meat aged at the optimal time and temperature for a rich, melt-in-your-mouth texture :)

The interior has both 4-person tables and bar table seating. We were seated at the bar table :) I'd definitely recommend making a reservation before you visit!

The basic side dishes to go with the meat came out neatly arranged :) The staff kindly explained how to eat each side dish for the best flavor.
Nokji Magok menu and the beef and lamb set for two

We ordered 🥩 beef & lamb set for two and 🍚 salted pollock roe fried rice with green onion :)

They also had a great variety of alcohol, including house wines, which I liked.

One free corkage bottle and staff who grill for you
Nokji offers 1 bottle of corkage free, so I brought a red wine along, and they even provided wine glasses 🍷 The food came out soon after, starting with the beef, and staff grilled it for us directly, so we could just relax and eat without worrying about a thing.

The raw meat looked so fresh I couldn't wait to eat it 🥲

The meat was incredibly tender, and the more you chewed the more the juices burst out, but it wasn't greasy at all, so I kept eating more. I was genuinely so happy the whole meal 🥲
And I loved the thoughtful touch of putting the meat on a warmer so it wouldn't get cold :) That let us eat a little more leisurely.

Pairing red wine with Nokji Magok's charcoal-grilled beef
Eating with red wine made it go down so smoothly that our glasses emptied fast :) White wine or a highball would probably pair well too, but personally I thought red wine was so good that I'd definitely recommend red wine 🍷

Truffle sauce and myeongnan pabap (salted pollock roe and scallion rice)
Partway through, they gave us another sauce made with egg and truffle, and it went really well with the mushrooms :)
It also paired well with the salted pollock roe fried rice, so I highly recommend it! The fried rice is delicious on its own, but it was even better eaten with the meat :) Next time I want to try some of the other side dishes.

Nokji Magok's lamb and the side dishes that come with it
Next up was the lamb, and it was also incredibly tender with plenty of juiciness :)

The mashed potatoes served alongside paired well with the soft lamb, and the water dropwort came with a special basil-based sauce that matched it perfectly, so I enjoyed that too :) All the basic side dishes and sauces at Nokji were delicious, which made it fun to pick and choose what to eat 😋
There was so much meat that the two of us ate until we were completely stuffed :) Nokji, a must-visit near Balsan Station, comes highly recommended 👍
Is Nokji Magok worth a return trip to Magok?
It was such a satisfying meal with absolutely nothing to complain about, and the staff were so kind that it made leaving even more pleasant :) From the meat to the side dishes to the wine, everything was satisfying, and I finally understood why everyone keeps talking about Nokji.
It was such a rewarding experience that I was glad I'd made a reservation, so if you're looking for a beef restaurant in Magok, I'd recommend Nokji. There were still menu items I didn't get to try this time, so I'll probably visit again — I'll bring another review then :)
