Gangnam ramen restaurant for spicy hangover comfort: Oreno Ramen Gangnam

In short

Oreno Ramen Gangnam is a Japanese ramen restaurant near Gangnam Station in Seoul. After a 15-minute weekend lunch wait, I had spicy kara paitan ramen with an extra egg, tsukune, and cola. Verdict: a filling, satisfying hangover meal.

How long was the weekend lunch wait?

It was selected for the Michelin Guide Seoul Bib Gourmand, so you can visit with confidence. At an affordable price, it is great for curing a Friday-night hangover, and it is more filling than snack food, so I have been eating it often lately! Oreno Ramen Gangnam (오레노라멘 강남점) is as delicious as ramen in Japan and easy to get to.

Open daily, year-round, 11:00–20:30 / Last order: 20:00 Parking: use nearby paid parking lots Located on the second floor of the Tteokdoritang building Weekend lunch wait: yes

I arrived around 1 p.m. on the weekend, and the line stretched down the stairs! It took about 15 minutes to get in. The restaurant is large with plenty of seats, so turnover is fast; even if there is a wait, you should be able to eat after a short one. I was so excited to have ramen. It is on the second floor of the Tteokdoritang building, so you should find it quickly. Both Oreno Ramen and the tteokdoritang place on the first floor had waits, haha.

A spacious restaurant for solo meals through family gatherings

Because it is on the second floor, I expected a cramped restaurant, but I was surprised by how spacious and comfortable it was. There are counter seats for solo diners as well as regular tables. I loved the roomy space with wide gaps between tables and windows. It is a restaurant that works for office-worker lunches, solo diners, dates, and family gatherings alike!

Ordering kara paitan ramen and the basic table setting

As soon as you enter, you order at the kiosk. My boyfriend and I wanted the spicy tori paitan ramen, so we ordered it with an extra soft-boiled egg. It was perfect for a hangover. We added assorted tsukune (Japanese grilled chicken meatballs), too.

When we sat down, iced tea, ginger, and kimchi were set out. Reading the notice, I learned that noodles, broth, a bowl of rice, and kimchi can all be refilled for free! It is the kind of restaurant people with big appetites would really love. They even provide hair ties for women—such thoughtful attention!

Spicy kara paitan without a heavy finish

The ramen finally arrived! Kara paitan is a tonkotsu-based ramen with a spoonful of heat added, but the broth is not heavy, and a gentle spiciness rises at the finish—just the right level of heat. With its chicken-broth base, chicken breast, soft-boiled egg, wood ear mushrooms, and scallions, it is both wholesome and delicious. No wonder it was No. 1 on Kakao Map in 2024 and selected for the Michelin Bib Gourmand for eight consecutive years. It is insanely delicious...

The assorted tsukune and cola combination

Tsukune means Japanese-style grilled chicken meatballs, and it was my first time trying it! It was even tastier alongside the ramen. The chicken texture was tender, and the cheese topping was delicious too. It was such a great way to load up on protein that I definitely want to recommend it. (I have been low on protein lately from going to work, so this worked out perfectly!)

And cola went so well with the ramen and tsukune. I usually avoid carbonated drinks for health reasons, but here, you absolutely have to add a cola! Spicy ramen, tsukune, and cola are the perfect finishing touch. Oreno Ramen Gangnam made for a happy weekend.

A meal as delicious as ramen in Japan

I have eaten lots of ramen while traveling in Japan, and I confidently recommend this place as being as delicious as ramen there. Be sure to order the tsukune and cola too, and enjoy a filling meal.
