When you’re craving wood-fired pizza in Ara-dong
Lately, when I’m in the mood for pizza, I find myself drawn more to pizza baked fresh in a wood-fired oven than the usual franchise pizza. This time, I visited Dough Rider Pizza (도우라이더 피자) in Ara-dong, Jeju. Since they have pasta and sides as well as pizza, it seemed like a nice place for a meal with your partner or friends.

A casual interior that feels like the U.S.
The first thing I noticed when I walked in was that it had a slightly different feel from the Jeju pizza places I had imagined. The whole place felt a bit like I’d come to the U.S., so I already felt like I was traveling before I even had a bite of pizza. It was casual and comfortable for a meal, which made it a great fit for a date, too.

Taking your time ordering at the kiosk
You can order using the kiosk set up in the restaurant. Each table can place its own order, so it was convenient to look through the menu at our own pace and choose what we wanted without having to keep calling a staff member over.

A couples set with an L pizza and a side
This time, we ordered the couples set (L pizza + 1 side + 2 drinks). It was ₩34,000, compared with a regular price of ₩43,500, so ordering the set was a little more reasonable.

Pizza is definitely best while it’s warm. It had that distinct aroma of wood-fired dough, with a soft center and edges that had just the right texture, which made it fun to eat. As we cut it into slices, the portion turned out to be better than expected, and having the sides along with it made for a filling meal for two.

A self-service bar!

A corn side that went well with the pizza
If you keep eating only pizza, it can get a little rich, but the corn dish was nice to have in between. The corn’s characteristic sweetness and soft creaminess went really well with the pizza.

Cheese-baked rigatoni with black pork
And because I was curious, we also added the black pork cheese-baked pasta (rigatoni) for ₩5,500. It was fun that, as you’d expect from a pizza restaurant in Jeju, they used black pork in one of the dishes. Rather than regular spaghetti noodles, it was rigatoni, so the sauce seemed to coat the inside of the pasta nicely, and the cheese made it easy to enjoy alongside the pizza.
Overall, Dough Rider Pizza felt less like a place to quickly eat pizza and leave, and more like somewhere to enjoy a meal along with the atmosphere. Choosing from wood-fired pizza, pasta, and sides in its American-style setting made me feel like I’d briefly traveled somewhere else while in Jeju.

When you want to share pizza and sides
If you’re looking for a pizza restaurant in Jeju, I’d recommend stopping by Dough Rider Pizza for wood-fired pizza in Ara-dong. It seems especially nice when you want to try a variety of dishes, including pasta or sides along with your pizza.

If you’re looking for a restaurant in Jeju with an atmosphere that feels a little different from the usual, or a place for couples to share pizza and sides, give it a visit. With tasty pizza and fizzy drinks, it was a relaxed pizza meal for the first time in a while.
