It was convenient to visit by car because there is a separate parking lot, and more than anything, I loved that the café was much larger than I expected. I think it would be a good choice for anyone looking for a bakery café or a spacious café in Jeju City!

Dobana had quite a varied dessert selection, so it was a great café for enjoying tea and dessert together, not just coffee!

From cakes to fudgy desserts like brownies, there was such a range that it seemed like it would be fun to choose something different every time you visit!

There was an especially wide range of teas, including options like the hojicha I ordered that come with a traditional tea set, so you can steep the tea yourself for a different kind of experience 🤍

A spacious, tidy interior

Dobana was the kind of café where, the moment I walked in, I thought, “It’s really bigger than I expected!” The tables are comfortably spaced and there are many kinds of seats, so it looked great for visiting with friends or family. They have high chairs, too! Even when I visited, the space felt so open that I could spend time there comfortably without feeling cramped.

Dobana also has a group room, and I heard you can reserve it through Naver Booking! When it is a small gathering or a meetup with several people, I tend to look for somewhere with a space like this rather than an ordinary café, and Dobana seemed useful in that respect too. Since there is parking as well, I recommend it as a meeting spot for groups travelling by car.

Cheesecake with crisp almond crumbs

The first dessert I tried that day was the cheesecake. It was not just an ordinary cheesecake: crisp almond crumbs were baked on top, with a cream cheesecake layer underneath.

What I liked most on the first bite was, of course, the texture! The crunchy almond crumbs and soft, moist cheesecake came together, making the texture change so distinctly within one bite that it was fun. The flavor had that sweet-and-salty balance, too, so I kept reaching for more!

If cheesecake is only very sweet, it can become tiring after a few bites, but the nutty crisp crumbs and smooth cheese flavor worked together so well that I enjoyed it much more than expected. Personally, I think it would be good with coffee, and it also pairs nicely with the hojicha I’ll introduce next!

This time, I also ordered hojicha (roasted green tea). Hojicha is said to be tea made by roasting green tea, reducing its astringency and giving it a grain-like savoriness and nuttiness. Best of all, it comes with a traditional tea set!

Steeping the tea myself rather than simply drinking it made me feel as if I could enjoy it a little more slowly. Its aroma was nutty and not overwhelming, and it had a charm distinct from coffee, making it lovely to savor slowly with dessert. Instead of coming to a café and drinking only coffee, having this time to steep tea myself made the break feel even more unhurried.

It paired especially well with a sweet dessert like cheesecake, because the tea’s nutty, clean taste balanced the dessert’s sweetness.

A fudgy brownie for a sweet-day craving

The brownie was exactly what you think of as a classic fudgy brownie. One bite gave you that rich, dense texture, so it was perfect when I was craving a sweet dessert. I personally love brownies this fudgy, so eating it somehow made my stress melt away 😍 If you enjoy sweet desserts, I recommend trying the brownie too.

A café for an unhurried break in Jeju City

The biggest advantage I felt while spending time at Dobana was definitely its spacious, relaxed setting. When looking for cafés in Jeju City, there are many pretty places, but sometimes they are crowded or the seats are narrow, making it a little uncomfortable to stay for long, right?! Dobana is a large café with varied seating and plenty of room, so it seemed good for chatting with friends or visiting with family.

There is also parking, and I heard the group room can be used through Naver Booking, so I think it would be a good option for anyone looking for a café for a group in Jeju City. The desserts, including cheesecake and brownies, are also the kind that go well with coffee or tea, making it great for a simple dessert break.
