In short

Taeyang Private Parking Lot is a Chinese restaurant in Busanjin, Busan, near the entrance to Dong-eui University Station. The ₩30,000 two-person set included smoky beef brisket jjamppong rice, fried rice, and mini tangsuyuk. Verdict: a satisfying, generously sized Chinese meal.

A Gaya-dong Chinese restaurant by Dong-eui University Station

Exterior of Taeyang Private Parking Lot near Dong-eui University Station

Taeyang Private Parking Lot (태양민영주차장), a great Chinese restaurant near Dong-eui University in Gaya-dong, is right by the entrance from Dong-eui University Station toward Gaya Park. I had no idea there was such a good Chinese spot here 😖 It was my first visit too, and there were seriously so many customers.

Tables inside Taeyang Private Parking Lot

There were about eight tables inside, so it felt fairly spacious. Chinese food is great delivered too, but every now and then it really is tastier eaten fresh at the restaurant, haha. There was a steady stream of both dine-in and delivery orders, and on top of that, the dining room and kitchen were really clean!!

Taeyang Private Parking Lot had lots of options, including one- and two-person sets with tangsuyuk (sweet and sour fried pork), as well as separate drinking-snack sets. Even if you come alone, you can't skip tangsuyuk, right~!!

Cold jjamppong and Chinese-style cold noodle menu

They also sell cold jjamppong and Chinese-style cold noodles! Totally my style—I have to come back and try them next time, hahaha.

Rice is free at Taeyang Private Parking Lot, so anyone who needs more can get a refill! Adding rice when you're still wanting more after jajangmyeon or jjamppong? Hahaha, I love it. Pickled radish, onions, kimchi, and chunjang (black bean paste) are self-service too! 👍🏻

A beef brisket jjamppong rice feast from the ₩30,000 two-person set

Beef brisket jjamppong rice, fried rice, and tangsuyuk set

I ordered the two-person jjamppong + fried rice + tangsuyuk set! Three dishes for just ₩30,000—such insanely good value. Jajangmyeon is the star of Chinese food, but noodles don't sit well with me, so I ordered rice dishes.

Two-person Chinese food set spread

It had been a while since I'd had Chinese food, and the smell was incredible as soon as the dishes arrived.. I switched the jjamppong to beef brisket and rice, and there was jajang sauce over the fried rice plus a mini tangsuyuk that was still generously portioned!

Beef brisket jjamppong. I'm honestly team jjamppong over jajang!! The spicy-looking broth and all those toppings were totally my thing.

Maybe because I switched it to jjamppong rice, but it was absolutely packed with toppings!! The beef brisket and onions had a properly charred, wok-fired aroma. So many toppings to pick through—completely, completely satisfying.

This jjamppong rice had glass noodles and bean sprouts instead of regular noodles, and I didn't miss the noodles at all!! The beef brisket made the broth rich and deep—perfect! I drank so much of the broth >.<

Fried rice with sweet jajang sauce

Fried rice is another Chinese-food charm. The egg-fried rice topped with sweet jajang sauce already smelled unreal.. They also made sure to serve jjamppong broth alongside it.

Wow, it had been so long since I'd had this sweet jajang sauce..🫢 It was old-school jajang to a T. Paired with the savory fried rice, it was seriously so, so delicious~~~~~!!!

Tangsuyuk with ketchup-based sauce

Crispy-chewy tangsuyuk with thick pieces of pork

My absolute favorite Chinese dish is tangsuyuk. It came with the set, but both the quality and flavor were truly top-notch. The ketchup-based sauce was packed with vegetables, and there was even salt on the side ㅠㅠ👍🏻

Mini tangsuyuk and sauce
Tangsuyuk with a crispy coating

It was somewhere between glutinous-rice tangsuyuk and regular tangsuyuk. Crispy, with no unpleasant meat smell, and nicely drained of oil—it was so good. That chewy-crispy coating was the best!!

Tangsuyuk with thick pieces of pork

Can you see how thick the pork is..? It was practically all meat, not batter!!! I highly, highly recommend dipping it in salt 👏🏻

A Chinese-food day where I totally feasted for the first time in a while. The jjamppong, fried rice, and tangsuyuk were all so good that I couldn't rank them ☺️ I think I'll be craving that spicy jjamppong broth again, hahaha. The fried rice and crispy tangsuyuk were seriously awesome.. They say it's Busanjin-gu's number-one tangsuyuk spot—I agree~~~! I highly recommend Taeyang Private Parking Lot.
