A basement curry restaurant near Jeonpo Station—what is the atmosphere like?

In Jeonpo-dong, I honestly want to keep this incredible curry spot all to myself, but it is already too popular to hide... I went to one of the best curry places ever 🍛🔥 If you are a serious curry fanatic, pay attention. The place I visited this time was Sarugak20, right near Jeonpo Station!

It is seriously close to Exit 8 of Jeonpo Station. Follow the quiet uphill alley and you will find it in a basement space directly across from Jeonpo Community Service Center. When you hear a restaurant is underground, you picture somewhere a little dark and musty, right? But this place was such a huge plot twist—thumbs up...👍

A warm space filled with natural light, even underground

Even though it is underground, natural light pours in like crazy through the huge windows...☀️ The sunlight is so warm that it did not feel underground at all! I doubt there are many basement curry places in Jeonpo with this kind of atmosphere. And as a bonus, you get to take in the interior, where the owner's great eye shows in every corner~ It was truly the kind of interior I wanted to live in ㅠㅜ

The window seats are so pretty that they are absolutely perfect for eating alone, too. You can enjoy curry romantically in the sunshine without feeling self-conscious—thumbs up!

Deep Japanese curry paired with crisp pork cutlet

The star of the menu is deeply flavored Japanese curry, and there are loads of sides to have with it, including fried items and pork cutlet! Also, there is no break time, which is such a great perk when you get peckish at an awkward hour in the afternoon...🍯 Next time, I am going to order a whole bunch of different sides!

Just look at the visual of what we ordered... As soon as it arrived, I was amazed by its rich, deep aroma, and the neat presentation alone already confirmed it as Jeonpo-dong's curry gem. I could not stop taking photos—I do not even know how many main Instagram shots I got 📸

Seriously, from the very first bite, that deep, rich Japanese curry flavor swept through my mouth like crazy ㅠㅠ The pork cutlet was all crispy outside and tender inside, and dunking it generously in the curry sauce was an unreal combination... The rice and curry sauce were perfectly balanced too, so I could enjoy it right to the end without getting tired of it, haha. And if you need more, rice and curry can both be refilled! Though after finishing mine, I was so full, haha.

And one combination you absolutely cannot leave out here... Take a bite of curry, then a sip of cold Coke, and all the stress from the day just disappears. It has exactly the right atmosphere for stopping by after work, or for a great Jeonpo lunch.

Melon cream soda and frozen curry for home

If you love cute drinks, you have to try the melon cream soda! I am definitely trying it on my next visit. We left having cleaned every last bit from our plates... My stomach felt comfortable throughout the meal, and I was genuinely so happy ❤️

Oh, and if you try the food here and fall for the curry, they also sell frozen curry on Smart Store. You can pick it up at the restaurant or order it by delivery to your home or office! Being able to enjoy this deep flavor at home too—I am planning to stock up on a few soon, haha.
