Today I went on a date in Yeongdeungpo and ended up craving meat for dinner, so I headed to Choryang Saenggalbi near Yeongdeungpogu-cheong Station :)
After walking around on our date, we got hungry, and since this place grills the meat for you, I figured it'd be an easy, relaxed meal — so we stopped in.
We ordered two servings of fresh ribs (saenggalbi), mul naengmyeon, cheese-steamed egg, and fried rice. Both the main ribs and the side dishes were seriously filling, so let me walk you through it!

Inside Choryang Saenggalbi and what the writer ordered

Inside, Choryang Saenggalbi has a comfortable vibe for enjoying grilled meat, with plenty of tables set up. It felt good for two people, but also looked like a solid spot for a bigger group meal.

That day we ordered two servings of fresh ribs, mul naengmyeon, cheese-steamed egg, and fried rice. At first I thought it might be a bit much for two people, but once we started eating, there wasn't a single dish I'd have cut haha. Ribs first, then cold noodles to refresh the palate, then fried rice to finish — it really felt like a proper course.
Side dishes and the free kimchi jjigae

When you order meat at Choryang Saenggalbi, a set of side dishes comes out first to pair with it. Everything looked clean and neat, and they went well alongside the ribs throughout the meal.
The fresh ribs themselves are rich and juicy, so eating a lot of it can get a little heavy — but the side dishes helped reset the palate along the way. I also liked that none of the individual side dishes had too strong a flavor, so they never competed with the main event, the meat.

The complimentary kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew) that comes standard was also delicious. It had a lot of meat in it too haha. This owner really knows their stuff!
How do the fresh ribs grilled by the staff taste?

Finally, the dish I was most looking forward to arrived — the fresh ribs. What I especially loved here is that a staff member grills the meat for you directly!
At most Korean BBQ places, one person usually has to keep watching the grill the whole time, but here they grilled it right at the perfect moment to eat, so we just got to relax and chat while we waited. That kind of thing makes a real difference on a date :)
I took a bite of the beautifully browned ribs, and the juiciness was honestly next level. The outside was grilled to a nice golden color while the inside stayed moist and tender — every bite was juicy, with almost no toughness or dryness.

Rather than being heavily seasoned, the meat let its own clean, savory flavor shine through, and the mix of lean meat and fat gave it a soft texture. It was tasty on its own, and even better with the side dishes — the two servings disappeared fast.
If you're looking for a meat restaurant near Yeongdeungpogu-cheong Station where the staff grills it for you and the flavor doesn't disappoint, this one is worth a visit.
Mul naengmyeon and cheese-steamed egg at Choryang Saenggalbi

After the ribs, I was craving something cool, so we ordered the mul naengmyeon (cold noodle soup) too. As soon as it arrived, I was surprised by how generous the portion was.
It was plenty for two people to share after eating meat, and the broth was cool and clean, refreshing the palate nicely after all that ribs. It was tasty on its own, but adding a piece of rib on top made the savory meat and cool noodles pair even better.

The cheese-steamed egg we ordered alongside was satisfying too. The steamed egg was soft and fluffy, and the cheese made it richer and savory — eating it warm, spoonful by spoonful, was a great pairing between bites of meat.
Fried rice with two fried eggs to finish

And of course, we finished with fried rice! We were already pretty full, but there was no skipping the fried rice haha.
It came out with a generous portion, plus two fried eggs on top, so it looked filling from the start. Breaking the yolks and mixing them into the rice made it even richer, and the seasoning wasn't too strong, so it kept going down easily even though we were full. The price wasn't steep either, so with that portion size, I thought it was a genuinely good-value dish to end the meal.
Is Choryang Saenggalbi worth it for a date-night dinner?
Overall, Choryang Saenggalbi was a satisfying dinner stop after a date in Yeongdeungpo. Having a staff member grill the ribs for us made the meal easy and comfortable, and above all, the fresh ribs were moist, tender, and full of juice, so I really enjoyed them.
The mul naengmyeon was generous and refreshing, pairing well with the ribs, and the cheese-steamed egg was soft and savory, making it a great side to order alongside. Even the closing fried rice came in a hearty portion with two fried eggs on top, so we finished the meal feeling completely full.
If you're looking for dinner after a date in Yeongdeungpo, or a Korean BBQ restaurant near Yeongdeungpogu-cheong Station where the staff grills the meat for you, I'd recommend Choryang Saenggalbi :)
