Ganghwa duck restaurant with lotus-leaf cold noodles: Deok Ori
In short
Deok Ori Jumulleok Ganghwa Main Branch is a duck jumulleok (pan-stirred spicy duck) restaurant on Manisan-ro in Ganghwa, Incheon, where the duck is first seared over briquette fire. On a Naver reservation visit with her husband, the writer ordered duck jumulleok for two (40,000 won) with yeon-naengmyeon (cold noodles made with lotus leaf) and natural cider, then had the leftover meat turned into fried rice left to form a crispy crust. Deok Ori Jumulleok tasted clean with no gamy smell and no MSG, like a country-style home meal.

While looking for good restaurants near Jeondeungsa, I heard about a duck jumulleok place that first sears the duck over charcoal briquettes and then cooks it in a special sauce, so I visited with my husband. Since it's near Chojido Bridge, both Manisan and Ganghwa Luge are easy to reach from here, and it's known to be so delicious that my husband had already been with friends and raved about it — that's why we ended up going 😊

Following the navigation, we spotted the huge sign right away — impossible to miss.

There's a large parking area right in front of the restaurant, so parking was easy.

They said they only age a set amount of meat each day to keep things fresh and tasty. Since they might run out of ingredients, I'd recommend booking through Naver Reservation before you go. (I did too!)

Duck jumulleok for two at 40,000 won, with vegetables grown by the owners
At Deok Ori, you can choose your menu in advance when booking. We ordered duck jumulleok for two — ₩40,000 for two people — and everything came already set with the side dishes.

The vegetables were so fresh, and apparently they're all homegrown produce. That probably explains why the veggies and side dishes tasted so fresh.
Rice-field view seats and the self-serve dongchimi bar
The dining room is spacious and clean, so it'd be great for groups of friends or family. If you reserve ahead, they'll push tables together to fit your party size. The rice-paddy view through the windows felt cozy and homey — the kind of scenery older folks would love.

There's a self-serve bar where you can help yourself freely, and the dongchimi (watery radish kimchi) broth is a must-try — my husband and I both went back for refills. So refreshing and savory, absolutely delicious 🐷
If a side dish isn't at the self-serve bar, you can ask the kitchen for a refill.

It's already been featured on TV — a nationally recognized spot, no doubt 👍🏻

Briquette-seared duck jumulleok: was there any gamy smell?
The duck jumulleok comes pre-seasoned and pre-seared over charcoal briquettes, so it's much easier to eat than grilling everything from raw.

They add fresh perilla leaves partway through stir-frying, and the fragrant aroma blending with the vegetables made it clean and delicious. There was no MSG, so it wasn't overly intense, and — since I usually can't handle meat with a gamy smell — this was completely free of that and tasted clean.

With so many fresh vegetables piled in, it felt like eating a genuinely healthy meal.
I grabbed some pickled radish (ssammu) from the self-serve bar to wrap the meat, and this combo is a must-try too...

The soy-marinated crab wasn't too salty either, and made a tasty side dish.

If you love wrapping meat in pickled radish and perilla leaves — we clearly have the same taste 🫶🏻

Natural cider and yeon-naengmyeon, cold noodles made with lotus leaf
Every restaurant has cola and cider as basics, but this was the first time I'd seen a place serving natural cider. My husband said natural cider is his favorite drink, so we ordered it, and it was pleasantly sweet with a nice fizz — delicious haha. Give it a try!

Since we're naengmyeon fanatics, we also ordered the naengmyeon (cold noodles) — it's water-based only, made with lotus-leaf noodles. Refreshingly savory, and it paired well with both the meat and the fried rice.

Finishing with fried rice, waited out until the crust turned crispy
Deok Ori's fried rice is genuinely delicious, so you have to order it!!! If you leave a bit of meat, the owner will stir-fry it together with the fried rice, and it's so good — the duck seasoning does all the work...!!

We waited 2–3 minutes for the crispy crust to form, then dug in! Even though we were already stuffed from the naengmyeon, it was so good we scraped the pan clean.

You can't resist wrapping it in fresh vegetables, right haha. After being used to intense, spicy, salty, sweet food, this felt like a well-set country table — genuinely delicious and satisfying. It's a place where you can enjoy a clean, healthy meal without heaviness, and I'd recommend it to anyone visiting Ganghwa, or looking for good restaurants near Manisan or Ganghwa Luge 🩷
