Daehangno spicy seafood pasta and pineapple ade: Omil Hyehwa, Seoul

In short

Omil Hyehwa Daehangno is a pasta and omurice restaurant that opened in August on the second floor of a building on Daemyeong-gil, a minute from Exit 4 of Hyehwa Station in Jongno, Seoul. Hungry after a play in Daehangno, the writer ordered spicy seafood pasta for 17,900 won, salmon steak gnocchi for 19,900 won, and a pineapple ade served inside a real pineapple. The clam-rich oil pasta and the rose-sauce handmade gnocchi were both good enough that Omil's omurice and sizzling cheese katsu are next on the list.

I screamed so much through the whole play that my stomach was growling before long. To fill it up, I headed to Omil (Oh! Meal), a newly opened restaurant in Hyehwa since August.

Where is Omil Hyehwa Daehangno, and what are the hours?

Omil Hyehwa Daehangno is on the 2nd floor of 58-2 Myeongnyun 4(sa)-ga, Jongno-gu, Seoul, and it's open 11:30–21:15. Break time is 15:15–16:30, last order is 20:30, and you can check Naver Place for holiday closures.

Coming out of Hyehwa Station Exit 4 and heading into the main street, it's on the 2nd floor of the building across from Cheonghwawon. There's no parking, so public transit is recommended — if you drive, you'll need a nearby paid lot.

Coming up to the 2nd floor, a cute yellow door greeted us. That rubber duck omurice photo on it looks so adorable haha 😆

What does Omil Hyehwa Daehangno look like inside?

Omil Hyehwa Daehangno felt clean and cozy overall — great for a date. When we visited, I noticed a lot of couples and also mother-daughter tables.

This Hyehwa pasta spot had cute plush toys scattered around, which was fun to spot. There's a restroom inside the restaurant too, so it's convenient.

Self-service bar: water and pickles

After ordering, we grabbed water and pickles from the self-service bar.

The pickles were crisp and refreshing, cleansing our palate between bites.

Pineapple ade, 6,900 won, served in a pineapple

The pineapple ade actually came served in a real pineapple. Chewy chunks of pineapple in the gorgeous glass, sweet and tangy.

Two pasta dishes and drinks laid out on the table

Spicy seafood pasta, 17,900 won: how spicy is it?

This is the spicy seafood pasta. It had mussels, clams, and squid, stir-fried together with onion, bell pepper, and cabbage.

The clam's briny umami was the standout in this pasta. Seasoning was spot on, and the seafood was plump and salty, so I think going with an oil pasta was the right call. You can adjust the spice level too — I really enjoyed it.

└> I inhaled it while my friend was still talking haha;;

Salmon steak gnocchi, 19,900 won, in rose sauce

This is the salmon steak gnocchi. The plate was piled with handmade gnocchi — crisp outside, chewy inside — in a rich rose sauce, plus a thick salmon steak. Passed the visual test right away.

It was my first time trying a salmon steak, and it was soft and nutty — dipped in the rose sauce, it paired really well.

The gnocchi had a nutty, chewy texture, almost like grilled tofu.

Is Omil Hyehwa Daehangno worth it after a Daehangno play?

I hadn't found a good restaurant in Daehangno yet, but I found one today! I heard this is Omil's third location, opened in Hyehwa — thank you for opening here. Thanks to that, we ate well. The other menu items looked so good too that next time I visit I think I'll try the omurice or the sizzling cheese katsu.

Looking for a good restaurant in Hyehwa or Daehangno?! Wondering about a place with a nice vibe for a date?! Not sure what to eat with your kid?! With a menu that pleases everyone and cute interior details, Omil would be great for a date or a family meal. And it's even better if you come here to fill an empty stomach after watching a play, just like we did!
