Dongtan Korean restaurant with 4 parking spots: Yangpuni kimchi set
In short
Yangpuni Kimchi Jjigae & Samgyeopsal is a Korean restaurant serving kimchi stew and samgyeopsal (grilled pork belly) in Bansong-dong, near Dongtan Central Park in Hwaseong. On an evening too lazy to cook, the pork belly kimchi jjim (braised kimchi) set arrived with a bowl of rice and an egg roll included, and plenty of pork in the pot. The sweet, salty kimchi jjim sauce is a rice-stealer, so Yangpuni is a satisfying pick for anyone after kimchi jjim loaded with meat.

I was hungry in the evening but couldn't be bothered to cook, so I looked around nearby and ended up ordering kimchi jjim (braised kimchi stew) without much expectation — and it turned out way tastier than I thought.
They sell kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew) and samgyeopsal (grilled pork belly), but they also had a pork belly kimchi jjim set. I wanted both meat and kimchi jjigae, so after some deliberating I went with the pork belly kimchi jjim set. Ordering the set meant a bowl of rice came included too, which was nice.
What kind of place is Yangpuni Kimchi Jjigae & Samgyeopsal near Dongtan Central Park?
Yangpuni Kimchi Jjigae & Samgyeopsal (양푼이김치찌개&삼겹살) is a Korean restaurant serving kimchi jjigae and samgyeopsal in Bansong-dong, Dongtan, Hwaseong. They've apparently been selling kimchi jjigae since 2017.

They recently expanded and relocated, revamping the menu along with it, and they say they use domestic kimchi and domestic fresh pork, following a principle of using ingredients the same day they arrive.

Same-day-in, same-day-used is common for places like jokbal shops or bakeries, but I think this is the first time I've seen a samgyeopsal or jjigae place stick to that principle. It's a place that's survived almost ten years since 2017, and the meticulous ingredient management made me trust it right away.
Beyond kimchi jjigae, they also have Gyeongsang-do-style duruchigi (stir-fried pork) and samgyeopsal, so the menu was pretty diverse. When grilling meat feels like too much effort and I just want something filling, kimchi jjigae or kimchi jjim is perfect.
Parking spaces and group seating at Yangpuni
You can park right in front of Yangpuni Kimchi Jjigae & Samgyeopsal — there were about four parking spots out front. For anyone driving, finding a spot is usually the hardest part, so this was convenient.
The parking isn't exactly abundant, but since you can park directly in front, it might be worth asking whether a spot is free before you visit. The restaurant also has group seating for up to 40 people, so it's good for group gatherings too. Takeout, delivery, and reservations are all possible, so you can use it however suits your situation.
The pork belly kimchi jjim set: how much meat do you get?
The pork belly kimchi jjim set comes with kimchi jjim, a bowl of rice, and an egg roll. Kimchi jjim is something I crave occasionally, but since it's such a common dish, I ordered without much expectation. It ended up being better than expected, and I really enjoyed the meal.

I like kimchi jjim packed with plenty of pork belly or pork shoulder, and this place had a generous amount of meat too. When I order kimchi jjim delivery, the meat usually runs out fast and I'm left eating just kimchi by the end — but here, the meat was genuinely plentiful.

Rice came included, so there was no need to order extra — well, unless you want two bowls! One bowl was plenty to fill me up, and I was totally satisfied. The kimchi jjim really devoured the rice.
Sweet, salty kimchi jjim that steals the rice

I'm not sure if it's the kimchi itself or the seasoning, but the kimchi jjim sauce here was exactly my style. Sweet and salty at once — wow, seriously addictive.

Scoop up a big spoonful of warm rice, fill your mouth, then add a plump piece of meat, kimchi, and a bit of broth — wow... that's what devours rice.

The seasoning was deep and delicious, and maybe because the rice was fluffy too, eating them together was just so good. There was plenty of meat, so I ate right down to the last bite without any regrets, feeling completely full.
A thick, generously sized egg roll

The set also includes an egg roll, and even as a side dish it was thick and generously portioned.
It wasn't a few thin slices — it was thick, like it had a ton of egg packed in.

The egg roll went really well with the kimchi jjim too, so eating them together was great.
Worth it if you want kimchi jjim packed with pork

I never expected the kimchi jjim set I ordered so casually to be this satisfying. I like kimchi jjim loaded with meat, but most places only put in a little, so I'd end up adding extra meat or finishing the meal feeling shortchanged. That's why, when I crave kimchi jjim, I usually just make it at home with tons of meat — but that's really such a hassle...

So sometimes I order out anyway, expecting to be a bit disappointed — but this place was totally satisfying! I'm sure the other menu items are just as good, so I'm planning to go back and try something else next time.

Samgyeopsal, kimchi jjigae, kimchi jjim, duruchigi, jeyuk bokkeum, bulgogi, doenjang jjigae, mul naengmyeon, kimchi mari guksu, bibim naengmyeon, and more — there's a wide range of menu items, so if you want a hearty lunch or dinner, head to Yangpuni Kimchi Jjigae & Samgyeopsal!
