Goyang Chinese restaurant for seafood jjamppong: Jjamppong Jijeon
In short
Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch is a Chinese restaurant on Seooreung-ro in Goyang, Gyeonggi. After a walk at Ilsan Lake Park, we had oversized Jijeon jjamppong, jjajangmyeon, and glutinous-rice tangsuyuk with the kids. Verdict: a family dinner spot we promised to revisit.

The weather has gotten noticeably cooler~~ haha. Off we go to Ilsan Lake Park with the kids for the first time in ages!! lol

After one lap, it was already nearly dinner time 😄 We had hiked since morning and then walked around the lake park, so I had absolutely no energy left to make dinner 🫠 So we went, “Tonight, it’s jjajangmyeon and jjamppong!!!” and found this Seooreung favorite: Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch. 😄

I’ve been to Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch so~~~ many times that I can’t even count. Yet every time we come, the kids absolutely inhale their food here!!😍 It gets so busy at weekend lunchtime that there can be a wait.

At busy times, you can also reserve your place in line through Catchtable. 😁 This Seooreung favorite, Jjamppong Jijeon, has partitions between the tables, so it is perfect for families or get-togethers. The staff are so kind, too—they always make us feel welcome 👍

The phrase written by the kitchen, “We will make even a bowl of jjamppong like a masterpiece,” really speaks to me here 🥹

You can tell how popular it is just by looking at all the signatures behind the register 😁 As usual, we ordered medium glutinous-rice tangsuyuk (sweet-and-sour fried pork), an oversized Jijeon jjamppong, an oversized Jijeon jjajang, and a regular Jijeon jjajang. 😄

A self-service corner with mung bean sprouts and rice
Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch in Goyang has such a well-stocked self-service corner. 👍 Along with sides like zhacai (pickled mustard stem), kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), and mung bean sprouts, you get unlimited refills of rice too!!!🍚🍚🍚 As someone who loves rice, I always desperately want a bowl with my jjamppong 😆 Here, I love that I can eat as much as I want without feeling self-conscious. haha

Baby tableware is all ready too 👶🍽

Even pretty hair ties—such a thoughtful touch, haha.

There is a dessert corner too ❤️ Coffee, omija tea, maesil tea, iced tea, and even lemon soda 😲 Dinner and coffee all sorted in one go. lol. While we waited, our food appeared in no time haha.

Jijeon jjamppong with deeply savory seafood flavor
First, we piled in a huge heap of mung bean sprouts from the self-service corner 💚

At other Chinese restaurants, jjamppong often has a strong artificial MSG taste—and honestly, I like that flavor too 😁👍 But one spoonful of the broth at this Seooreung favorite, Jjamppong Jijeon, tells you immediately that this is not MSG flavor; it is jjamppong broth with a wholesome, savory depth. haha

I think it is because of all the different seafood in the jjamppong 🥘🐟🦀🦑🐚 Many jjamppong places use only mussels, but this Seooreung favorite, Jjamppong Jijeon, is packed with clams, scallops, squid, and even meat! That is why it has such deep savory flavor 💚 It is also fun picking out the quail eggs one by one. I love jjamppong with quail eggs. lol

Most of all, the noodles in Jjamppong Jijeon’s jjamppong are not bland at all—they are infused with savory flavor ❤️ Even when you eat the noodles on their own, you think, “This is what real jjamppong tastes like!!!!!” 👍👀 haha

Jijeon jjajang and glutinous-rice tangsuyuk the kids inhaled
The jjajangmyeon at this Seooreung favorite, Jjamppong Jijeon, is seriously good—my kids say Jjamppong Jijeon’s jjajang is the best! Every time we come, I think the restaurant’s name is Jjamppong Jijeon, so you might expect its jjajangmyeon to feel overlooked. haha 🫠

It is full of generously cut onions and meat, which go so well with the jjajang sauce that every bite feels like pure happiness. My first, second, and third child—all three siblings—buried their faces in their bowls and inhaled it. haha

The tangsuyuk at Jjamppong Jijeon Seooreung Branch is not ordinary tangsuyuk; it is glutinous-rice tangsuyuk. Its coating is crisp yet chewy, so it is never dry or tough.😁 We dipped the fried sweet potato that came with it into the sauce too, haha. My second child prefers dipping tangsuyuk in soy sauce with chili powder, so I tried it too—and it brought out the nutty flavors of the meat and fried coating even more, letting their natural taste shine through 👍😁 They must use really clean oil, because the fried food has such a clean color too 👍

New jjamppong dumplings full of smoky wok flavor
The new jjamppong dumplings are a special treat too. I think this may be a menu item you can only get at this Seooreung favorite, Jjamppong Jijeon. haha

When you bite into the crisp fried dumpling wrapper, it is packed with jjamppong filling full of smoky wok flavor. It is spicy and delicious, and even my second child in elementary school ate it well. haha. Before we knew it, we had finished everything, and the kids kept telling each other that every time we come here, it is seriously delicious. They said, as always, Mom’s restaurant pick never disappoints.🫠 We left promising to come back again. haha

The parking lot is spacious too, so even beginners can park easily 😁
