Today I'm introducing Myeongin Dwaeji Gukbap, located in Bukmyeon! Since it's close to Bukmyeon Hot Spring, it's great for a meal after a soak, or just for a solid lunch nearby. Myeongin Dwaeji Gukbap has been running in this exact spot for 10 years now. Just staying in one place that long tells you it's already a well-known local favorite!

Parking and how to get to Myeongin Dwaeji Gukbap

Super easy parking right in front of the restaurant! Even beginner drivers can handle it comfortably. The way there wasn't tricky either. There were so many field views along the way that were really easy on the eyes. Before heading in, I ended up standing around for a while just admiring the mountain and field scenery.

I deliberately visited during the quiet hours, past 3pm. Since it was an off-peak time between meals, the restaurant was quiet at first, so it was easy to take photos and look around slowly.

But while I was taking photos and waiting for my food, customers started coming in one by one. Even at this awkward time past 3, people kept arriving. It really seemed like locals already know this as the go-to gukbap spot in Bukmyeon~ Guess there's a reason places last this long!

What I ordered: pork gukbap, sundae gukbap and sampler suyuk

Here's the menu! I ordered pork gukbap, sundae gukbap (blood sausage soup), and a sampler suyuk (boiled pork slices).

The interior was clean and pleasant too✨ Overall the place felt really well-maintained, and the tables and surroundings were genuinely spotless.

The self-serve side dish bar

There's a separate self-serve bar for the side dishes, so I could easily grab more of whatever was running low. When you're eating gukbap you always end up wanting more kimchi or kkakdugi at some point, and it was convenient being able to take as much as I needed.

They even showed me how they twirl the noodles for the noodle add-in... a genuinely fun place. Honestly, of all the pork gukbap places I've been to, this might be the one with the least gamy smell and the best flavor.

Broth simmered all day in a cast-iron cauldron

A big cauldron pumping out milky-white broth. They keep it simmering continuously in this huge pot. That's why the broth was so rich and had absolutely no gamy smell.

Freshly made kimchi, chive salad, and even kkakdugi — all side dishes that paired well with the gukbap. And it was special that they also serve homemade gangdoenjang alongside it!

The sampler meat was great to eat alongside the gukbap. It's perfect to order if you feel like gukbap alone isn't quite enough, or if you want a little meat on the side too. Dipping it in the gangdoenjang made it genuinely delicious.

How the sundae gukbap compared

I also ordered the sundae gukbap, and I liked that the broth was rich and the bowl was generously filled. If you want to try both pork gukbap and sundae gukbap, it might be nice to order both and share. The sampler meat was great to eat alongside the gukbap too — perfect if gukbap alone isn't quite enough or you want a bit more meat.

How does the broth taste?

The broth was rich but not too heavy or cloying — clean and savory, which I loved. There was barely any of that gamy pork smell, so it was easy to eat comfortably. I first tried it plain, then added a bit of salted shrimp (saeujeot), and the umami really popped! Mixing the warm broth with rice made me feel full and satisfied down to my core ❤️🔥

Worth a solo meal near Bukmyeon Hot Spring?

Overall the food was delicious, the restaurant was clean, and the staff were friendly, so I had a comfortable meal. What especially stood out was that customers kept coming in even at the awkward hour past 3pm. Since it's been running in the same spot for 10 years, it seems like it's already established itself as a local favorite.

I also liked how spacious the parking lot was, and since it's near Bukmyeon Hot Spring, it'd be perfect to stop by after a soak or just for lunch. The atmosphere is relaxed enough that eating a bowl of gukbap alone doesn't feel awkward at all, so it should work well for anyone looking for a solo dining spot in Bukmyeon, Changwon. With clean, rich broth and a generous amount of meat, Myeongin Dwaeji Gukbap made for a satisfying, filling meal!
