I visited Myeongin Dwaeji Gukbap, a lunch spot near Bukmyeon hot spring in Changwon, for a solid meal. Located near the hot spring, it's a proven restaurant that's been running for 10 years. Using domestic soup bones, sundae (blood sausage), offal, and pork, it's a trustworthy Bukmyeon restaurant. The self-serve bar is generously stocked and you can eat unlimited noodle sarigookja, making it great value.

There's dedicated parking right in front of the restaurant, and the lot is spacious enough that there was no issue even though we visited during meal time.

Partitioned tables for 8 and the unlimited noodle self-serve bar

The interior of Myeongin Dwaeji Gukbap is wide and clean, and it's a Changwon restaurant with lots of regular local customers. It didn't have that distinctive meaty smell you sometimes get at gukbap restaurants, and I loved that each table had its own partition.

The tables and chairs are a generous size fitting 8 people as standard, making it a good Bukmyeon restaurant to visit with a child too.

The self-serve bar had all the basic side dishes neatly laid out — diced radish kimchi, kimchi, onions — and best of all, homemade gangdoenjang (thick soybean paste) ♥️ I'm a fan of the noodles you get at gukbap places, and here they were unlimited from the self-serve bar.

Two suyuk baekban at 13,000 won each: what a couple thought

The basic table setting came out generously — assorted vegetables, diced radish kimchi, kimchi, chives, pickled onions, homemade gangdoenjang, and noodle sarigookja. It all arrived together on a tray, neat and varied — surprisingly generous for a basic setting 👍

Suyuk baekban, ₩13,000

The earthenware bowl arrived boiling hot. Even though we ordered the suyuk baekban, there was quite a lot of meat in the broth — so if you want to eat suyuk, I'd recommend going with the baekban set ☺️

Clear, clean, milky-white broth. I don't usually like broth that's too oily, but this had little fat, so it wasn't greasy, and had a deep, rich flavor.

And unlimited noodle sarigookja on top of it all ♥️

Even though we ordered baekban, the broth was so packed with meat it felt like eating suyuk and gukbap at the same time.

And then the tender suyuk meat arrives. My husband and I both ordered baekban, so it was a hearty two-person portion. The meat wasn't sliced too thin, so you could really feel the soft texture, which made it even more delicious 👍

The lean-to-fat ratio was just right too. It tasted even better with the assorted vegetables that came alongside. The suyuk meat is domestic chilled pork, well boiled with no gamey smell and very soft.

The real kicker at this Bukmyeon lunch spot near the hot spring was the deep, rich homemade gangdoenjang ♥️ Mixing it into plain white rice and wrapping it in lettuce was so good.

After finishing the suyuk, we mixed the leftover rice into the broth and ate it like gukbap.

After the meal, there was iced coffee, milk coffee, and cocoa available to drink.
