The herbal octopus ugoltang (galbitang, short rib soup) arrived with a whole large octopus draped over the earthenware pot and short ribs hidden generously underneath, and writing a Naver review earned 2 ice creams. When the temperature swings hard between day and night and energy starts dipping, a proper bowl of health food naturally comes to mind. I heard about a restaurant specializing in health food that builds its dishes around the nuttiness of white perilla and the deep flavor of black sesame, so I went to try a healthy meal! Here's my review of Baekheukdam, with its neat garden view and devotedly made broth.

The food was great, but honestly the staff and the owner were all so kind, and the quality of the review dessert was so good, I left really satisfied!!!^^
Where is Baekheukdam in Hanam, and is there parking?
Baekheukdam is located at 93 Misadong-ro, 1st floor, Hanam, Gyeonggi, South Korea, inside Misa Island. I come here often for family gatherings so it's pretty familiar territory hahahaha.

Parking space is well set up, so you can visit comfortably by car — even bringing your parents along — without worrying about parking!
Garden view inside Baekheukdam
Even before stepping inside, the lush green garden at Baekheukdam catches your eye~ The interior is also arranged in a neat, cozy mood, so it seems perfect for a parents' 60th or 70th birthday meal, a family outing, or an important gathering^^

What's on the Baekheukdam menu?
Baekheukdam's main menus are black sesame samgyetang and perilla samgyetang. All the chicken goes through a 12-hour sous vide process, so it's supposedly tender and moist all the way to the core, with no dryness!

Besides samgyetang, there's ongsimi (dumpling soup), herbal octopus ugoltang (galbitang), and haesintang too — a varied lineup of health food that satisfies everyone regardless of age or gender^^
Herbal octopus ugoltang (galbitang): what arrives at the table
To fill up body and mind that day, I chose Baekheukdam's herbal octopus ugoltang (galbitang)!

Before the galbitang arrived, the soy sauce and seasoned salt were already set up on the table!ㅎㅎㅎㅎ

The side dishes were geotjeori kimchi (fresh tossed kimchi), pickled onion, and kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), each distinctive and a great match for the galbitang.
The octopus galbitang came out in a piping-hot stone pot!
A big, chewy octopus was draped right over the pot! The herbal medicinal ingredients combined with the deeply simmered beef bone broth made for a rich yet clean, deep soup flavor~

And the short ribs hiding beneath the octopus! Wow, so generous I wondered if I could finish it all >_<ㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎ
The rice felt a bit on the softer side, but soaked in the broth it turned almost porridge-like, soaking up the soup nicely — actually loved that!

The harmony of the tender, not-chewy octopus and the soft rib meat that slid right off the bone was pure art!

There was also saessak-sam (young ginseng sprout), gingko nuts, and jujubes to help with the health boost, which made me feel even healthier^^

Piling it all onto one spoon and eating it in one bite made it even better! The best!
Free ice cream for a Naver review, plus dessert teas
Baekheukdam is generous — writing a Naver review gets you not just a drink but ice cream too! Apparently the drink comes as a canned beverage, but I only got the ice creamㅎㅎㅎㅎ

They brought out two ice creams! Apparently it's 2 for a solo visit and 3 for two people~

Cool, sweet chocolate and cookies-and-cream ice cream! Chewy like gelato and delicious — good enough that I didn't need to go to a café afterward!

Near the entrance, omija tea (five-flavor berry tea) and maesil tea (plum tea) were also set out as dessert^^
And a thoughtful touch — toothpaste and toothbrushes in the restroom!
Who should eat at Baekheukdam?
The devotion of 12-hour sous vide, the deep savory broth, the neat garden atmosphere, and the thoughtful ice cream dessert — Baekheukdam was perfect all around! If you're taking your parents to a meal, need a health boost, or want to treat loved ones to a hearty meal, I highly recommend visiting without hesitation!^^
