Gangneung ocean-view café with bakery: Baegya Coffee

In short

Baegya Coffee is a large bakery café on Haean-ro in Gangneung, Gangwon. During my Gangneung trip, I had iced coffee and bread by the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the sea. The wide interior and parking were convenient, but being able to sit inside and take in the ocean was the highlight.

Where is Baegya Coffee, and is parking convenient?

While looking for a café with a sea view during my Gangneung trip, I visited Baegya Coffee (백야커피) on Haean-ro. The address listed in the original post is 607 Haean-ro, Floors 1–3, Gangneung-si, Gangwon State, and its hours are daily from 9 AM to 9 PM.

I chose it because it looked spacious and pleasant, and it really was quite large inside. The parking lot was also roomy, so it was easy to park.

What bakery items and drinks are available?

When you enter the first floor, the bakery and counter are the first things you see.

There were more kinds of bread than I expected, so I spent quite a while deciding what to have.

There were many bakery items, including salt bread. Even though I had planned to have only coffee, I wanted to add at least one piece of bread.

There was also a varied selection of cakes. We had not planned to eat bread because we had just finished a meal, but after looking around, we ended up ordering some.

They sold a variety of drinks in addition to coffee. The bread display cases opened when you pressed a button, which felt hygienic.

How does the sea look from inside?

At the time of my visit, I could also look around the fourth-floor rooftop. There was an elevator, which made moving between floors easy.

From the second floor, the sea stretched out beyond the floor-to-ceiling windows. Sitting inside and looking at the ocean made it feel like I was on a trip.

The weather was nice on the day I visited, so I could take in the blue sky and sea at a glance. The ocean was reflected in the wall mirror too, and I thought it would be nice for photos.

The third floor was similar to the second, with slightly different décor. Having restrooms on every floor was also convenient, since I did not need to go up or down to another floor.

What is the rooftop like?

From the fourth-floor rooftop, the sea was right in front of me and the breeze was cool. I thought it would be nice to stay there in mild weather.

What was the best part of having coffee and bread?

We sat right in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows and had iced coffee with bread. The coffee felt even better while looking at the sea beyond the window, and it was also a nice spot for photos.

What I liked most was being able to sit comfortably inside the café and fully enjoy the view without having to go down close to the sea. Overall, it was clean and pleasant, making it a nice place to take a break with bread and coffee during a trip.
