Cheonan café for shrimp potato pizza and cosmos views: Pino Cafe Cheonan

In short

Pino Cafe Cheonan is a brunch café near Taehaksan in Cheonan, Chungnam. I had shrimp and potato pizza, an Americano, and salt bread before wandering through the garden of yellow cosmos. Verdict: a lovely stop for an unhurried meal surrounded by seasonal scenery.

I visited Pino Cafe Cheonan, a great brunch spot near Taehaksan, and enjoyed delicious pizza along with the autumn scenery. There are lots of large cafés around Pungse, but today I went back to one of my favorites, Pino Cafe Cheonan. I wanted a nice brunch, of course, but the food is only part of it here—the outdoor scenery is so beautiful that I want to visit once whenever the seasons change.

Pizza and brunch choices at Pino Cafe Cheonan

After looking through the menu, I ordered the popular Shrimp & Potato Pizza and an Americano at Pino Cafe Cheonan. Popular choices include the whole-wheat chicken sandwich set, croissant sandwich set, beef bulgogi & pepperoni pizza, and chili cheese fries.

Pino Cafe Cheonan has much more than pizza, with pasta, brunch plates, sandwiches, scones, and more. Its signature half-and-half pizza lets you enjoy several flavors at once, so I would recommend it for a first visit. The mentaiko mayo salt bread is popular too, so I definitely want to try that next time.

Coffee and a selection of salt-bread desserts after your meal make for a proper brunch time. I also heard that you can receive an egg tart for writing a Naver review, so visitors may want to take advantage of that.

Green views through picture windows and a larger interior

The antique-style interior has around 10 tables, and there are tables on the terrace too, though they are all reserved. An interior expansion remodel has made the space much roomier, while large picture windows bring the green plants outside right into view.

The neatly arranged interior, quiet atmosphere, and relaxed mood made me feel especially comfortable throughout the meal. Looking out at the green scenery beyond the windows somehow settled my mind without having to do anything special.

Taking my time over good food while looking at the nature right in front of me made the meal feel even more leisurely. It is a lovely place to step away from a busy everyday routine, eat quietly, and rest; at Pino Cafe Cheonan, I think the space itself is as healing as the food.

The new space has a tidy mini washbasin and a self-packing area, which makes it convenient to wash your hands before eating.

The yellow cosmos garden at Pino Cafe Cheonan

The garden was full of yellow cosmos in bloom. Every time the breeze stirred, the flowers swayed against a bright blue sky—so beautiful! It looked lovely in photos, but seeing it in person was the kind of view that naturally put me at ease.

Honestly, although the food at Pino Cafe Cheonan was delicious and satisfying, this view is what stayed with me most today. The yellow cosmos was blooming so beautifully in the garden, and with the clear blue sky as a backdrop, every spot looked like a picture.

The Shrimp & Potato Pizza was delicious even when cool

Today’s Shrimp & Potato Pizza. This was the shrimp and potato pizza we ordered that day.

The Shrimp & Potato Pizza we ordered

One of Pino Cafe Cheonan’s signature items, the half-and-half pizza is also sold with a combination of arugula shrimp and potato bacon, so you can enjoy two flavors at once depending on your taste. Personally, I sometimes find that pizza starts out delicious but becomes a little disappointing as it cools. But the pizza I had today was tasty even after it had cooled down a bit.

It was great eaten right away while warm, but as we slowly chatted, the pizza cooled before I knew it—and I still enjoyed it to the last bite. The mild, savory shrimp and the soft, comforting potato went wonderfully together, making it easy to eat without feeling too heavy. Most of all, I loved being able to taste two flavors with the half-and-half pizza.

On days when ordering lots of brunch dishes feels like too much, I think it would be nice to leisurely enjoy a half-and-half pizza with a drink instead.

There were star-shaped flowers blooming along the fence leading into the garden. The plants were full of buds, so the view will be even prettier once they are fully open.

Many people also visit Pino Cafe Cheonan with their dogs. A leash is essential, though, and cleaning up after your pet and following basic pet etiquette considerate of other guests will make everyone’s time more enjoyable.

Gourmet butter salt bread and milk-cream salt bread

After the meal, I had salt bread too. There were so many varieties that choosing was difficult! I picked the gourmet butter salt bread and the best-selling milk-cream salt bread.

Biting into the crisp gourmet butter salt bread, I got a full, nutty butter flavor with a delicious salty note. When the basic version is this good, the other salt breads must be even better, right? There are so many kinds that I want to try them one by one. It has me looking forward to my next visit.

A café to pair with a stop at Taehaksan

Pino Cafe Cheonan is in Pungse-myeon, Dongnam-gu, Cheonan, Chungnam, making it an easy place to stop by when visiting Taehaksan. It is just 1 minute from Taehaksan parking lot, so a light hike after visiting the café would be nice too. I imagine it gets even busier on weekends?

Rather than a place where you only spend time indoors, it is more appealing because you can enjoy the spacious outdoor area and garden too. The garden changes with the seasons: daisies fill it in spring, a green barley field shines in summer, and yellow cosmos colors it in autumn. I thought it would suit anyone looking for a Cheonan date spot or a family outing, and since it is dog-friendly, I also recommend Pino Cafe Cheonan for an outdoor outing with your pet.
