On a drowsy afternoon like this, all I want is to relax somewhere with good vibes and eat something delicious. After going back and forth on where to go, I heard about a sandwich place in Bongsan-dong that's been blowing up on social media, so I hurried over to check it out.

Spoiler up front: Dento nailed it, from the emotional atmosphere to the neat, tidy visuals of the food to a depth of flavor that beat my expectations. The five bite-size open sandwiches and the warm tomato soup in particular were so memorable that I can still picture them clearly. If you want a light, satisfying brunch to unwind over, this place will not disappoint — let me introduce it right away.

Where is Dento? A brick building down a Bongsan-dong alley
Dento sits on the ground floor of a building down an alley off Bongsan Culture Street 2-gil in Jung-gu, Daegu. Stepping into the alley, the calm yet stylish brick exterior immediately catches your eye. The atmosphere already felt so right that I knew I'd found the place the moment I arrived at the entrance.
The entrance itself is styled with a modern yet warm feel, which got me excited before I'd even stepped inside.
Walking in, the calm-toned interior and tasteful furniture blend together into exactly the kind of vibe you'd expect from one of Daegu's coolest cafés.
The staff greeted me warmly and kindly the moment I walked in, which set a great tone from the start. Even in how they worked, I could feel their care and passion for the place — the whole space was full of a warm, welcoming mood.

Dento's menu: open sandwiches, soup, drinks and wine
Dento's menu covers sandwiches, soup, drinks, and even wine — a solid lineup. It was fun just browsing through it slowly.

This time I ordered the famous signature — five bite-size open sandwiches — and paired it with a refreshing lemonade (₩5,000) and a warm, deeply savory tomato soup (₩4,000). Even waiting for the neatly plated food to arrive was enjoyable.

I visited right as lunch was turning into early evening. Rather than going to stuff myself, it was the perfect menu for a light break from everyday life.

Near the counter, the café's various blended teas were prettily displayed, and it was fun to browse them too.

What is Dento's atmosphere like for a date or a long chat?
The overall atmosphere at Dento is genuinely great — it'd be a wonderful date spot and just as good for a relaxed chat. It's the kind of place that's perfectly suited for spending quiet time with someone you care about.
Beyond the overall mood of the café, I loved how carefully each table was set with little details.
The five bite-size open sandwiches and how they are plated
The five bite-size open sandwiches I'd been waiting for finally arrived! From right to left: pan con tomate, avocado salmon, roasted vegetable romesco, shrimp rémoulade, and triple ricotta cheese, all generously topped — the plating alone grabbed my attention.

The lemonade and tomato soup that came alongside looked so appetizing just by sight.

A close-up shot of the five sandwiches showed off the freshness of the ingredients and the care behind them. Even as finger food, they were loaded with toppings — a satisfying spread. I also snapped a full shot with the food, drink, and soup all together — the table colors and food looked so pretty that I couldn't not take a photo.

Taking a rare moment to relax, I felt all my built-up tiredness melt away. It reminded me how powerful a comfortable space can be.
I also liked the system where you help yourself to spoons, forks, and napkins from the self-serve bar at the center table — very convenient.
Dento's tomato soup at 4,000 won: how did it taste?
I started with the tomato soup first. Wow, it was genuinely delicious! Clean and smooth but with deep umami, and the seasoning was spot on.

The fresh, bright flavor of real tomato spread across my palate — really impressive.
Then I moved on to the open sandwiches. From the freshness of the pan con tomate to the rich aroma of the roasted vegetable romesco to the savory, refined taste of the avocado salmon, everything was excellent. Personally, the truffle ricotta cheese sandwich I tried last was my favorite — the heavy, nutty cheese combined with the truffle aroma was so good I still crave it.

Pan con tomate

The moment I bit in, the crunch of the toasted bread gave way to the bright pop of tomato filling my mouth. A subtle herb aroma lifted the flavor right away — I immediately understood why they suggested eating this one first. A refreshing start.
Avocado and salmon

Smooth avocado with salty smoked salmon is a combination that can't miss, and the capers on top were the real cheat code — cutting through the salmon's richness and leaving just the savory goodness. I kept reaching for more.
Roasted vegetables with romesco

I honestly didn't expect much from this one, but it was a total surprise — so good! The smoky char on the roasted mushrooms and the crisp texture of the vegetables, soaked deeply in a sweet-and-spicy romesco sauce, made it feel less like vegetables and more like a proper dish.
Shrimp rémoulade

The plump whole shrimp had a wonderfully bouncy bite. Combined with a creamy sauce carrying subtle notes of pickle and herbs, it felt exotic yet never greasy, with umami bursting through.
Truffle ricotta
This last one was a total home run for me. Behind the rich, nutty flavor of the thick ricotta cheese came a deep truffle aroma that hit my nose hard — the flavor was unreal. The lingering finish was so deep that it's still the sandwich I think about most.

Thanks to the good food and warm atmosphere, it turned into a genuinely refreshing day. If you're looking for a Banwoldang brunch spot with distinctive sandwiches and great drinks, I highly recommend visiting Dento in Bongsan-dong and experiencing that neat, relaxed time for yourself!
