Where is Dento? A new Bongsan-dong brunch café 7 minutes from Banwoldang Station

Dento is a newly opened brunch café on Bongsanmunhwa 2-gil in Jung-gu, Daegu, a 7-minute walk from Exit 9 of Banwoldang Station. It's open from 10:00 to 20:00, last order at 19:00, closed on Mondays, and there's no parking.

There's a brand new brunch café that just opened in Bongsan-dong near Banwoldang Station called 'Dento' 😌 I'd been meaning to check it out ever since I heard about it, and I finally found the time to go!

The exterior is a clean brick building with natural light pouring in, giving off such a warm and relaxed feel •• ☀️ The signboard out front is so cute too!

With the floor-to-ceiling windows, the view out from inside is really nice too... hehe. The café is so pretty it makes going for brunch even better. You know Bongsan-dong is hot again these days, right. Sandwiches are especially Dento's main thing! 🥪

Dento's menu is made up of sandwiches, toast, soup and the like, averaging around ₩10,000. Since I went alone that day, I couldn't order too much.

Inside Dento and how the self-serve cutlery bar works

There's a self-serve bar in the middle of Dento where you grab your own water, napkins, wet wipes, small plates, and disposable gloves. Cutlery like spoons, knives, and forks aren't brought to you either, so you have to get them yourself from the self-serve bar.

And the place is so pretty 😌 The tables and chairs have a vintage vibe that's fun to look at, and the whole space is decorated in a way that really matches the café's mood! The lighting and the plants are cute too haha

They don't bring you cutlery like spoons, knives, or forks, so you absolutely have to go grab them from the self-serve bar!

Make it delicious for me, boss! And after ordering, the staff told me about the review event they were running, so I joined right away haha

Dento's tomato soup, 4,000 won

The tomato soup was more petite in size than I expected. I really love tomato soup 🍅 so I'm glad I ordered it. It goes so well with the baguette especially, and between the tomato's tang and the smooth texture, I scraped the bowl clean. It's great to pair with everything else, so definitely order the tomato soup!!!!!

The five open sandwich flavors, one by one

Let me give a quick rundown of the flavors on the open sandwiches!

✔️ Pan con tomate — Strong olive oil aroma, topped with fresh tomato, exactly the kind of light flavor you want to start with!

✔️ Avocado salmon — Smoked salmon anchors the flavor here.. the avocado is smooth, and capers, salmon's best friend, add a tangy note that really holds the flavor together!

✔️ Romesco roasted vegetables — Roasted eggplant and broccoli sit on a romesco sauce made from charred bell peppers. Maybe it's because I personally love romesco sauce, but I wanted to mix everything together, and the cooked vegetables had such good flavor that it all worked so well!

✔️ Shrimp rémoulade — Mayonnaise-based rémoulade sauce with springy shrimp texture, plus crunchy celery! I personally love salad, so the whole combination felt clean and delicious

✔️ Truffle ricotta — Just as the name says, the truffle aroma is really intense! There's a sweet base flavor too, so it might get a little much if you keep eating it. That's why I personally think this is the tastiest open sandwich when eaten together with the tomato soup!

Is Dento's brunch enough for one person?

Finishing Dento's five bite-size open sandwiches by myself was surprisingly filling. It's great for enjoying lightly like a course and tasting a variety of flavors, so definitely order at least one signature dish!

I recommend 'Dento' in Bongsan-dong, a new brunch café with such a relaxed atmosphere! 🥪 ☕
