Banana pudding and salt cream coffee at Bakerist Brown, Gangnam café

Gangnam Station has no shortage of great restaurants and cafés, but when you actually want to sit down for some bread and a coffee, finding a place with enough seats isn't always easy.

Bakerist Brown, which I visited this time, was pretty satisfying on that front.

It's located between Gangnam Station and Sinnonhyeon Station, and above all the café is genuinely much bigger than you'd expect — a great option when you're looking for somewhere to sit comfortably in the middle of chaotic Gangnam Station.

What we ordered at Bakerist Brown, and what it cost

The three things I had that day were the Gangnam Sand set of 8 for ₩19,000, banana pudding for ₩6,800, and salt cream coffee for ₩7,800.

Bakerist Brown isn't hard to find even around Gangnam Station, so it was easy to stop by before or after meeting up with someone.

Why seats are easy to find at this Gangnam Station café

Cafés around Gangnam Station tend to be so crowded that you sometimes walk in and have to walk right back out because there's no seating, but Bakerist Brown is quite large, so it didn't feel cramped once I got inside.

Personally, eating good bread matters to me, but so does having space to actually sit, so I liked this part a lot.

True to its bakery café identity, walking in you find a wide variety of breads laid out.

With salt bread and plenty of other bakery items and desserts, it was fun taking my time browsing and picking things out.

The Gangnam Sand in particular caught my eye — there's a set that lets you try several at once, so I went with the 8-piece Gangnam Sand set. It's ₩19,000 for 8.

Can you take leftover Gangnam Sand home? Yes

Once everything I ordered was laid out together, it was more filling than I'd expected.

The Gangnam Sand comes with several pieces, so it was great for trying a little bit of each, and I packed up what I couldn't finish and brought it home. When I asked them to pack the leftovers, they wrapped it up neatly and I was able to bring it home to eat later.

You sometimes leave a bit of dessert unfinished at a café, so being able to pack it up like this was a nice touch.

The banana pudding is ₩6,800. It's sweet, soft pudding with just enough banana pieces to bite into, so it was easy to eat without feeling too heavy. A solid choice when you want something sweet. Since you get some banana to chew on, it also gave a bit of fullness! Getting a pretzel alongside made it feel even more substantial.

Salt cream coffee, 7,800 won, and how it goes with bread

The salt cream coffee is ₩7,800. It's coffee topped with cream, so it went well with the bakery items and desserts. It's a menu item where you really get that sweet-and-salty combination. When bread alone feels like it's missing something, ordering a coffee alongside makes for a perfectly satisfying dessert time.

Is Bakerist Brown worth a stop in Gangnam?

Bakerist Brown isn't really a grab-a-bread-and-go kind of place — it's better suited to spending time in a spacious spot enjoying bakery items, dessert, and coffee together.

Around Gangnam Station things get so crowded and busy that space matters just as much as the menu when choosing a café, and Bakerist Brown's large layout was what I appreciated most. If you're looking for a Gangnam Station bakery spot to chat comfortably with a friend, or a café to rest at before or after an appointment, this one's worth remembering.

The Gangnam Sand set, banana pudding, and salt cream coffee I had that day were all easy to enjoy without feeling like too much. The Gangnam Sand especially, with 8 pieces in the set, was great for sharing a few at a time, and being able to pack up the leftovers to take home meant I got to enjoy every last bit.
