Dongtan jjamppong shop noon solo lunch and self-serve coffee: Bultina
In short
Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong Dongtan Namgwangjang Branch is a Chinese restaurant specialising in cockle jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) at Dongtan's Namgwangjang square in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi. Arriving alone right at 12:00 on a weekday, the writer ordered level 2 cockle jjamppong (11,000 won) and fried dumplings (6,000 won) from the table tablet for 17,000 won total, then finished with a cup from the self-serve coffee machine. Level 2 was the easiest spice level to handle, and the fried dumplings impressed more than the jjamppong itself.

Isn't it funny how some mornings you just crave a spicy broth out of nowhere? Today's little expedition was exactly that kind of day — a solo trip to Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong at Dongtan's Namgwangjang square.

The storefront has "Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong" in big letters, so there was no chance of getting lost even on a first visit. It's a place that always pops up when you search for Dongtan jjamppong, so I'd been curious about the taste for a while.

Where is Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong in Dongtan, and where do you park?
- Name: Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong Dongtan Namgwangjang Branch
- Address: 1st floor, units 107–111, 149 Nojak-ro, Dongtan-gu, Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea

Hours can change, so it's worth double-checking before you go. I walked over, but if you're driving, the public parking lot right across the street takes care of any parking worries.
Inside Bultina: atmosphere and seating for solo diners
Stepping inside, the first thing I noticed was the space done up in bright beige and wood tones. It felt more like a tidy neutral restaurant than a typical Chinese restaurant, which made dining alone feel comfortable.

There were several seating types — 2-tops, 4-tops, and a long window counter — so picking a spot was easy. Every table had its own tablet, which meant I could order alone without worrying about anyone's attention.
Self-serve side dishes and the after-meal coffee machine

Once seated, they bring water, pickled radish, onion, and black bean sauce first. If you need more, you can just grab extra from the self-serve corner.

After eating, you can pour yourself a hot coffee from the machine set off to the side. It was the perfect way to wash down a spicy broth.
What I ordered at Bultina and what it cost

- Cockle jjamppong level 2: ₩11,000
- Fried dumplings: ₩6,000
- Total paid: ₩17,000
It's a comfortable amount even ordering two dishes for a solo meal, so I could order without hesitation.

- Cockle jjamppong: ₩11,000
- Cockle jjamppong rice: ₩11,000
- Jajangmyeon: ₩8,000
- Kids' jajang: ₩4,000

There's a note that the jjamppong rice version includes a small amount of noodles for extra depth of flavor. If you tend to leave noodles unfinished, the rice version might suit you better.
Which of the four spice levels should you pick?
You can pick the spice level for cockle jjamppong yourself, from 1 to 4. Level 1 is basic, level 2 is spicy, level 3 is stronger, and level 4 is insanely spicy.

I went with level 2, and unless you're really good with spicy food, level 2 seems like the safest choice. If you're not confident with spice, I'd recommend starting at level 1 and working your way up on future visits.
How the level 2 cockle jjamppong tastes
Level 2 was just right. "Deliciously spicy" describes it better than just "spicy." It was the kind of heat that brings a little sweat but keeps your spoon coming back for more.
The noodles stayed springy right to the end. A lot of noodles go soft quickly once the broth is hot, but here they kept their bounce down to the very last bite.

True to its name, there were plenty of cockles in it. Every spoonful of broth brought up a shell, and the fun of fishing them out lasted the whole meal.
Why the fried dumplings at Bultina are worth ordering
The fried dumplings I ordered alongside turned out to be the hidden star of this visit. I came for Dongtan jjamppong and ended up leaving smitten with the dumplings instead.

The outside was properly crispy and the inside stayed moist. There was no greasy heaviness — just a pleasantly thin, shattering skin.
Dipping them in the jjamppong broth gives a whole different flavor. The spicy broth seeps right into the dumpling, so each bite delivers two flavors at once.
Going to Bultina at 12:00 on a weekday
I arrived at exactly noon and the place was nearly full — plenty of people around. Even so, turnover was fast enough that I could sit right down with no waiting.
There were several solo diners too, so eating alone felt completely normal. Among Dongtan jjamppong spots, I'd say this one is on the easier end for solo dining.

Final verdict on Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong in Dongtan
Level 2 cockle jjamppong plus one order of fried dumplings made for a perfect solo meal.

The broth was deliciously spicy, the noodles stayed springy to the end, and the cockles were generous without holding back.
But honestly, the fried dumplings were far better than I expected — I'll probably order them again next time. If you're ever craving Dongtan jjamppong, I'd quietly recommend gathering up your own visit to Bultina Kkomak Jjamppong.
