Suseong, Daegu seafood restaurant: ramen at Andamiro

In short

Andamiro is a seafood restaurant in Dusan-dong, Suseong, Daegu. I had a reservation-timed seafood spread, added crispy grilled flounder for 4,000 won, and finished with seafood ramen. Verdict: a seriously good-value seafood feast in central Daegu.

The place I’m introducing today is Andamiro, a seafood gem in Dusan-dong, Suseong-gu, Daegu. It’s a freshly opened new spot, too, haha.

I really like that they’ve put all the available menu items up outside for everyone to see like this.

A clean, fresh-smelling interior at Andamiro

This is the vibe inside. It’s a seafood specialist, but there isn’t even a hint of that fishy seawater smell—it’s clean and pleasant.

It’s a fairly spacious place, yet look how they’ve kept the number of tables just right. You can sort of feel the owner’s intention to focus on food quality. As a guest, I also loved the generous spacing between tables.

Restaurant tables set far apart

You know seafood goes perfectly with soju, right? As expected, they had plenty of soju. I also spotted sake and premium spirits.

This is the nostalgic snack corner. Wow hahaha—V-Corn, Nana Corn, Nondu-reong! Amazing. It was so strange and wonderful to see names I hadn’t heard or seen in more than 10 years, haha.

They mainly sell set meals, with options called Bansang, Pyeongsang, and Hansang. There are also à la carte dishes and meal options, so add one of those if you need more.

Seafood feast arranged on a large tray

A seafood feast served right on reservation time

I booked ahead, and they had everything prepared exactly on time. Not long after I sat down—bam!—a big tray arrived absolutely loaded up. The menu listed sashimi, sea squirt, horned turban shell (sea cucumber), abalone, whole steamed squid, grilled flounder, blanched East Sea octopus, blanched deep-sea whelk, and steamed red scallops. It looked as though they steamed red snow crab instead of the whole squid, though. I guess the selection changes depending on supply.

Seafood feast with basic side dishes

There were three basic side dishes. The chilled cucumber soup was so refreshing and delicious. Of course, I can’t eat cucumber.

Chewy, delicious flounder sashimi. The key point was the thinly sliced garlic and chili peppers on top.

The abalone, sea squirt, horned turban shell, and blanched whelk were all completely fresh. Since they came out soon after cooking, the blanched and steamed dishes were wonderfully hot. You know that feeling when you bite into something just steamed and it slips right in? Proper stuff.

A crisply fried kimchi pancake. There were so many other delicious things that I didn’t reach for it at first, haha. Sorry, kimchi pancake.

The abalone and sea cucumber had that pleasingly firm, springy bite.

Hot blanched octopus. It was just perfect with wasabi soy sauce.

There was red snow crab and steamed scallops too. The crab had more meat in it than I expected. And the grilled flounder? It had three little knife slashes down its back.

They put little hats on top of the soju and beer bottle caps, which was cute.

They also served makjang, a thick fermented soybean dipping sauce, Busan-style, which I was happy to see haha. I poured soju into a red scallop shell and drank from it; the mood was great. Of course, it tasted exactly the same, haha.

A ₩4,000 grilled flounder add-on and seafood ramen

I liked the grilled flounder so much that I ordered another one... just ₩4,000. What can I say? Fish like this is hard to make at home, right? It makes your house smell, so perhaps that’s why I go wild whenever fish appears outside. No questions asked—add it immediately!

Additional order of grilled flounder

So crispy and delicious.

There was seafood ramen, so obviously we had to order it. Otherwise, the police are getting called.

Seafood ramen filled with seafood

Ramen cooked by someone else is always incredibly delicious. Borrowing someone else’s hands instead of struggling to cook it myself is the tastiest thing in the world, haha. Having it portioned into paper cups somehow gave it that outdoor-camping-ramen feeling, and I loved it. The seafood was generously piled in there too—so good!!! Haha. They also brought kimchi and kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi) to eat with the ramen.

We casually polished off two bottles of soju and two bottles of beer before getting up.

Table after the meal

The value was good enough to compete with the seafood platters in Yeonhwa-ri, Gijang—the famous spot. Being able to go to town on seafood at this price right in central Daegu is amazing... Looking for a Suseong-gu seafood restaurant or a Deuran-gil date-course restaurant? I highly recommend Andamiro in Daegu.
