Sangbong Korean BBQ for peppery frozen pork: Super Naengsam
In short
Super Naengsam Sangbong Main Branch is a frozen pork belly restaurant in Jungnang, Seoul. We had frozen pork belly, doenjang-jjigae, rice, and self-made fried rice, and loved the not-too-thin meat with oil-grilled kimchi and bean sprouts. Verdict: a spot I’d revisit even for a solo frozen-pork craving.

A last-minute frozen pork craving in Sangbong’s food alley
Suddenly, frozen pork belly~~ I wanted thin-sliced pork belly soooo badly that I messaged a friend, and we came to Super Naengsam Sangbong Main Branch solely to eat meat.
Super Naengsam Sangbong Main Branch is a pork belly place in Sangbong’s food alley-) It’s right along the busy Sangbong area, so it’s easy to find!!
Here’s the inside of the restaurant-) Now that the weather is getting a little cooler, they’ve put out outdoor seats!!?? I feel like those outdoor tables will be even more popular within a week or two! There were even people dining alone here~~ I should come solo next time too.
Frozen pork menu and what two women ordered
Here’s the menu-) A true frozen-pork favorite that really sells just frozen pork... Frozen pork belly is ₩9,900 for 150 g, and the first order must be at least 3 servings. Doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew), kimchi-jjigae, and sundubu-jjigae (soft tofu stew) are ₩5,000 each; one serving of self-made fried rice is ₩3,000, steamed rice is ₩1,000, and Hangang ramyeon is ₩3,900.
Such a simple menu >__< In the end, the two of us girls haha ordered this: “4 servings frozen pork + doenjang-jjigae + 2 steamed rice + 1 serving fried rice + 3 draft beers.”

These are the side dishes that arrive with the order. Wrap vegetables, sliced kimchi, bean sprouts, kimchi, pickled onions and chili peppers, sauce, and minari (water dropwort)~ Isn’t that an impossible-to-dislike combination!!!?

You can grab anything you need from the self-service bar-) They even have enoki mushrooms... this is love.... Enoki mushrooms grilled in pork fat are just insanely good!!!!

And there’s even a Hangang ramyeon machine hahaha. If I hadn’t eaten nearly two bowls of rice, I would have had ramyeon too, but I couldn’t—such a shame ㅠㅡㅠ
Lots of pepper and frozen pork that isn’t too thin
Pepper pepper pepper is essential for frozen pork!! The basic order has to start at 3 servings, so we ordered 3 first-) The portion was more generous than I expected, so for two women, the basic amount plus rice and fried rice would probably be perfect?
It’s thin-sliced frozen pork, but not cut too thin, so the texture is even better!! Yum yum.

How to enjoy frozen pork deliciously >__<

Pepper pepper pepper~~ I love pepper, so I sprinkled on lots.

It isn’t frozen pork sliced paper-thin, so even one piece has a really nice bite-! Before the fat renders out, put only the enoki mushrooms, minari, and garlic on first and grill them.
Doenjang-jjigae after the sundubu-jjigae sold out
I originally wanted sundubu-jjigae, but ㅠㅡㅠ it was sold out.. So we ordered doenjang-jjigae instead.. Oh!? It was way tastier than expected... so that was nice.
A ₩5,000 doenjang-jjigae at a meat restaurant feels a little pricey, but it had more ingredients than expected. More than anything, the meat here is so affordable.. Can they really sell it like this!
The tofu and zucchini weren’t tiny either; they came in big chunks!! It had that homemade style~~ The stew wasn’t overly intense, which made it go down even more easily.
Frozen pork just has to be eaten with rice, so of course we added steamed rice! Holding back the carb binge before the meat cooks... haha. Can you see how big the zucchini is? So huge.. They could sell a home-style set meal as a lunch special haha.
I have work tomorrow, but one draft beer is okay, right? haha Why does Sunday go by so quickly.... waah
Frozen pork belly turning beautifully golden!!! Once the fat comes out, grill the bean sprouts and kimchi together too, yum!

Tips for grilling and eating frozen pork even better
A tip for making it taste better is to grill only as much as you’ll eat!!! Thin-sliced frozen pork cooks faster than regular pork belly~~~ Frozen pork grilled with just two flips!
You can tell just from the photos that the frozen pork is good quality! It made me think this is a restaurant with a good turnover of meat! Frozen pork with loads and loads of pepper haha.

It’s delicious simply with sesame oil and salt and minari, too.

As in the photos above, frozen pork is tasty with just sesame oil and salt, but personally, I think it tastes best wrapped up with lots of different toppings.
Can you see that kimchi and those bean sprouts soaked in pork fat..? You have to eat this with white rice.. One bowl of rice, gone!
We were getting full, but... we couldn’t resist adding one more serving of frozen pork.... nom nom... I really, really wanted meat, and this totally satisfied me. As expected, it tastes better grilled yourself than delivered.

My friend said it was delicious too~~ There’s a reason it’s so popular as a pork belly restaurant in Sangbong.

Self-made fried rice cooked in pork belly fat
I was seriously about to burst.... but how can you hold back fried rice... hahaha. I considered adding regular steamed rice and mixing it myself?? But fried rice isn’t fried rice without seaweed flakes...... so we ordered the fried rice.

Is that one serving with even more rice than the steamed rice we ordered earlier?
Since it’s self-made fried rice, mix mix mix it yourself~~~~ Before making it, chop up the meat into small pieces, grill extra bean sprouts, kimchi, and sliced kimchi, then make it!!!!! This is secretly the flavor tip!!

Ahh... didn’t I mix it so well? ㅠㅡㅠ Such drool-worthy fried rice. You know fried rice cooked in pork belly fat can’t possibly be bad, right???????

As expected, it was delicious..... hahaha. This is a favorite I’ll definitely think of soon whenever I crave frozen pork. Since there are people who come alone too, I should visit solo someday.
