Banana crumble and vanilla bean latte at Selected Nicks, Gangnam café

Here's my review of Selected Nicks, a large café near Gangnam Station, where I went for coffee with friends on the weekend. My first time back in Gangnam in a while~! It's also easy to find since it's right near Gangnam Station.

What kind of café is Selected Nicks?

Selected Nicks, a large café near Gangnam Station, is a standalone building used entirely as a café, with a rooftop all the way up top — a great spot to visit on nice weather days like these. Made me wonder why I always only go to franchise cafés.

There's also a spacious outdoor terrace, great for hanging out with friends. Even though the trend's died down a bit, they still sell the Dubai chewy tiramisu! I caught a photo of a weekday lunch americano discount promo too.

Here's the outdoor terrace seating. There's a parasol up top to block the sun. Even though the café is huge, it's decorated nicely everywhere, so it was fun just looking around haha. Seems like they put a lot of care into the props and interior.

Where to order at Selected Nicks and how to move between floors

It's a café from basement 1 all the way to the rooftop... You can use the stairs or the elevator. Order on the 1st floor.

Selected Nicks dessert lineup and gift packages

The dessert lineup was varied — Dubai tiramisu of course, but also pistachio, crumble, and regular tiramisu, and quite a lot of people were buying packaged desserts to take away because the packaging is so pretty. Looks great for gifting too haha.

They had set menu discounts going on too haha. There were even desserts packed in tin cases, so next time I have a reason to come, I'll probably buy some as gifts.

I usually go to Gangnam Station whenever I'm in Seoul, and while there are plenty of franchises and independent cafés around there, this kind of large café near Gangnam Station is pretty rare. Lucky find.

What we ordered: the three-dessert platter and four coffees

Coffee prices were reasonable considering it's right in the middle of Gangnam Station. I kept debating what dessert to get and ended up going with the three-dessert platter since it was on the menu~! We ordered an americano, two iced lattes, and one vanilla bean latte haha.

Taeowork's solo exhibition on the 2nd floor of Selected Nicks

After ordering, we headed upstairs and found out there's a solo exhibition by Taeowork running through September. This photo is from the 2nd floor — the artwork was hung up like it was an actual gallery.

Weekend rooftop is full — claim a seat before you order

A large café near Gangnam Station where you can have coffee and see an exhibition too. It was packed, so the rooftop was completely full T.T. On nice days you'll probably need to get there a bit earlier. The place itself is huge with lots of tables, but because the tables are spaced out and the seats are big, plenty of spots end up fully booked anyway — so I'd recommend claiming a seat before you order :)

How does the three-dessert platter taste? Banana crumble wins

Here's the three-dessert platter — banana crumble, Earl Grey tiramisu, and choco banana, I believe. The banana crumble had actual real banana slices in it and the crumble was nice and crisp, so this was my favorite. I'm personally not a huge fan of Earl Grey, but the Earl Grey tiramisu had just a subtle hint of it, so it was totally edible. And choco banana — best combo ever~

Decaf swaps and how the coffee tastes at Selected Nicks

The americano can be switched to decaf, and any coffee substitution comes with a ₩1,000 extra charge haha. It wasn't too acidic and had a nutty flavor, so it was really tasty.

My friends had lattes, and they said the vanilla bean latte in particular had great flavor — apparently it's made with real vanilla bean, not just syrup. I'll have to try a latte myself next time haha.

Is Selected Nicks good for laptop work?

Overall the café is spacious, has a nice atmosphere, and wasn't too loud haha. So there were people working there too. I bet it's even better on weekdays.

They're running a photo review event too, so I snapped a shot for that haha. Once you're done eating, just return everything to the 1st floor and you're set. Recommended if you're looking for a large café near Gangnam Station. I'd definitely go back!
