Gangnam Station head spa with 18-step scalp care: Park Jun Beauty Lab

I had an appointment in Seoul after a while, so before meeting up I wanted to tidy up my hair and get some healing time too. I kept seeing Park Jun Beauty Lab Gangnam Branch recommended as a Gangnam Station hair salon, so I went to check it out. I booked an 18-step head spa with junior stylist Hyunjun.

Where Park Jun Beauty Lab Gangnam Branch is and what it looks like inside

Park Jun Beauty Lab Gangnam Branch sits roughly between Sinnonhyeon Station and Gangnam Station, so both are decently accessible. The Park Jun Beauty Lab sign is big and visible right from the building exterior, so it wasn't hard to find.

Walking in, the space is bigger than I expected. There are several seats, and the overall white tone makes it feel clean and bright. Park Jun Beauty Lab Gangnam Branch is a hair salon specializing in repair perms, repair dye, and head spas, apparently a place where you can get repair treatments, trendy styling, and head spas all together.

What especially caught my eye when I visited was how many foreign customers there were. A staff member told me that, kind of like how we get massages when we travel to Southeast Asia, getting hair care or a head spa in Korea has become a regular part of the trip for foreign tourists.

What does the 18-step head spa include?

What I got was Park Jun Beauty Lab Gangnam Branch's 18-step head spa treatment.

It wasn't just a simple shampoo plus scalp pack — it was broken down in real detail, from consultation to scalp diagnosis, scaling, massage, and treatment.

Microscope scalp diagnosis and the result sheet

First up was a microscope consultation and scalp diagnosis.

They sent me the result sheet over KakaoTalk too, which was handy to have for reference.

First, they used brushing to tidy up the scalp and hair,

then applied natural aroma oil.

After that came the galvanic warm brush and scalp scaling, a step that clears out built-up dead skin cells and waste, so my scalp gradually started feeling clearer.

Next came a scalp soothing pack and steam mist.

With the warm steam rising, this is around when I started to loosen up.

The neck and shoulder massage during the head spa

Something I personally loved was that it wasn't just scalp care and done — they worked on my neck and shoulders too. Using oil, they massaged my neck and shoulders and did muscle relaxation care as well.

My shoulders tend to get pretty tense normally, so I was quite satisfied with this part.

At the seat, they did a hair detox shampoo followed by a more thorough rinse of the Y-stick treatment.

Falling asleep in the private head spa room

The head spa wasn't done at a regular hair chair — it took place in a separate private head spa space. The treatment bed was comfortable, and the lighting and overall vibe were quiet, genuinely good for lying down and resting.

I closed my eyes during the treatment and ended up falling asleep without realizing it, haha.

My hair was being taken care of while I was just... sleeping. That's real healing time.

They finished with moisture-and-oil balance care using a scalp tonic made by Park Jun Beauty Lab. I actually already use Park Jun Beauty Lab's scalp products at home for self-care, and honestly this scalp tonic I got to use during the treatment tempted me a bit too. Trying the product while getting the treatment let me check out the scent and feel in person, which was nice.

How the scalp changed after the head spa

Comparing my scalp before and after, the difference was pretty clear. What looked a bit dry at first felt much more moisturized and settled afterward. Looking at the photo comparison, my scalp seemed more comfortable and healthier than before, which made me think — those 18 steps weren't for nothing. If your scalp tends to be dry, or you're bothered by flaking, oiliness, or its overall condition, this is a treatment worth trying at least once.

The finishing volume wave blow-dry

Once the head spa treatment was over, they finished with a blow-dry — and that's where I was won over again. Even during the head spa, they checked in advance what style I usually like and which direction I style my hair. I was torn between C-curl and wavy, and since they said they'd style it to match what I was going for, I asked for a volume wave blow-dry.

And the result was insane. Best hair of my life. My scalp felt refreshed from the head spa, and the blow-dry came out so pretty I could've gone straight to my appointment, haha. The wave carried naturally all the way to the ends and the overall volume was alive — exactly the look I wanted.

The self photo booth inside the salon

And it turns out Park Jun Beauty Lab Gangnam Branch even has a self photo booth inside the store. My hair looked great and I could take photos right away, haha. There's even a bit of built-in retouching, so the photos turned out better than expected. Head spa, a proper blow-dry, and then four-cut photos — I got a full day out of this one visit.

Is the Gangnam head spa worth booking?

If you want scalp care and hair styling together rather than just a haircut near Gangnam or Sinnonhyeon station, the 18-step head spa at Park Jun Beauty Lab Gangnam Branch was pretty solid. The process is detailed and you get to relax comfortably in a private space, so it felt less like scalp care and more like coming back from a proper spa.

I was comfortable enough to actually fall asleep partway through, and at the end junior stylist Hyunjun gave me the volume wave blow-dry I wanted, which bumped my satisfaction up even more. Healing with the head spa and leaving with pretty hair — mission accomplished for my appointment. If you have a bit of extra time on a day you're meeting someone in Gangnam, I'd recommend the course of getting a head spa and having your hair done. The final blow-dry was so good I wanted to avoid washing my hair for as long as possible that day, haha.
