Exterior of Deli Donkatsu in Songjeong

Hello~ I heard there's a very classic old-school pork cutlet spot in Busan, so I went to check it out! This time I brought my baby along too, and they have a baby chair. An old-school pork cutlet place that's also great to visit with a baby, let's go!

Where is Deli Donkatsu? Songjeong address, but minutes from Osiria and Gijang

Deli Donkatsu is an old-school Western-style pork cutlet restaurant on Songjeong-jungang-ro 9beon-gil in Haeundae-gu, Busan. Because it says Songjeong, I assumed it was near Songjeong Beach, but it turns out it's less than 5 minutes by car from IKEA, Lotte Outlet Dongbusan, the National Busan Science Museum, and Lotte World Busan! You could almost call it a Gijang, Busan restaurant rather than a Songjeong, Busan restaurant... It's basically in the Gijang area, so the location is really convenient. Great for a meal if you're already out nearby, and perfect to stop by when out and about with your kid around Dongbusan 🤍

Deli Donkatsu at 11:30 am: how busy it gets and where solo diners sit

I arrived around 11:30am and there were already a lot of people there — especially people around my parents' age, so they must have come chasing a nostalgic flavor. Made me think, wow, this really is a genuine old-school cutlet spot, haha. I especially liked that there were separate solo-dining seats, so you can eat comfortably without any pressure even if you come alone. You can take your time and enjoy your meal without worrying about others watching, so I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a solo-dining spot in the area.

Interior of Deli Donkatsu with lunchtime customers

As time went on, it really did get busier and busier and they got more and more slammed. After I finished eating, I ended up tidying up my dishes myself too, haha.

A brewed coffee corner in the restaurant

I haven't seen brewed coffee in ages! A nutty, fragrant coffee aroma drifted through the restaurant, giving a moment of relaxation with a cup after the meal — (my husband said he couldn't smell it, guess it's just me, haha).

Yogurt given to the baby

Is Deli Donkatsu baby-friendly? Yogurt, morning rolls and soup

Deli Donkatsu has a baby chair, and since I brought my baby, they even gave us yogurt — such a nice touch! My baby was still too young, so I ended up eating it all myself... First yogurt I've had in a long time... sugar recharge... okay...

Morning bread and strawberry jam served before the meal

Ah, the morning bread and strawberry jam that really bring out that old-school feeling. It's meant as bread before the meal, but you should save some for later to make a cutlet burger ^^. I gave some morning bread to my baby and she ate it so well... She's basically a real person now...

A generous bowl of Western-style soup
A bowl of soup with pepper added

They give you a hearty bowl of soup too! It's not overly seasoned, so I fed some to my baby too — a whole new world of flavor for her, haha. She polished off a bowl of baby food plus soup no problem. I like strong flavors, so I sprinkled on some pepper for myself.

What we ordered at Deli Donkatsu: jumbo Western-style pork cutlet and cream kimchi fried rice

The menu feels like it says 'we're going to do just one thing, and that's old-school pork cutlet, with pride!' — you can feel that, right? We ordered the jumbo Western-style pork cutlet and the cream kimchi fried rice on a hot plate. The prices are genuinely a steal...

A generous plate of jumbo Western-style pork cutlet

They give you morning bread and soup too, but just look at the massive amount of cutlet — the visuals are insane. The sauce itself just screams 'I'm an old-school cutlet.' Old-school cutlet is actually my favorite type of cutlet... Freshly fried, super crispy cutlet with a moderately sweet old-school sauce... They say it's a handmade sauce simmered fresh every morning with fresh ingredients!! No wonder — you can taste the rustic care in every bite. Deli Donkatsu in Songjeong is a place that can satisfy anyone, young or old!

Cream kimchi fried rice on a hot plate

And the cream kimchi fried rice on the hot plate nails it too!! Kimchi fried rice can be a bit intense, but the cream tames it nicely! The cream is super creamy, and blended with the kimchi fried rice it's just slightly sweet — even elementary schoolers who can't handle spicy food could eat this.

Table set with both pork cutlet and kimchi fried rice

Everything came out at once, which made for great photos haha. You don't have to wait for anyone else's dish to arrive, and starting and finishing the meal together was nice. The combo of kimchi fried rice and pork cutlet! The best, the very best.

Chili paste and spicy sauce received on request
Spicy chili paste served alongside the cutlet

Ask for the chopped chili paste and spicy sauce

At Deli Donkatsu, if you ask, they'll give you chili paste and spicy sauce too. It keeps things from ever feeling greasy, so you can eat cleanly all the way through — definitely ask for it and try it together. Exactly my style~~~

A cutlet burger made with morning bread, cutlet, and cabbage salad

Making a pork cutlet burger with the morning rolls

This is the cutlet burger that won over my husband, who has a kid's palate, haha. Toss the cabbage salad that comes with the meal together well, split a morning bread in half, and stuff it with cutlet — a juicy cutlet burger. Want a bite?

A glass of draft beer served with the cutlet

A draft beer with a pork cutlet lunch

I really love pork cutlet as a drinking snack... I couldn't resist and ordered a draft beer too. Old-school pork cutlet for lunch with a daytime beer.... can you tell how happy I was? I thought Songjeong meant near Songjeong Beach, but it's actually less than 5 minutes by car from IKEA, Lotte Outlet Dongbusan, the National Busan Science Museum, and Lotte World Busan. If you're planning to head to the Dongbusan or Gijang area, I really hope you'll stop by here at least once!! 🫶🏻
