These days there are plenty of stylish restaurants around, but taking both a kid and an adult out to eat can honestly be a bit stressful sometimes~

But Deli Donkatsu's menu itself is familiar and not really the type anyone dislikes, so it was perfect for a comfortable family meal out~

I was out in Songjeong with my kid and we ended up going to Deli Donkatsu for lunch with my mom too, all three of us — and wow, I really thought, glad we came here.

When you're looking for somewhere kids and adults can eat together, the menu is often either too strong-flavored or there's nothing suitable for a kid — but a pork cutlet place is always a menu that works across generations, so easy~

Inside Deli Donkatsu: mood and seating

More than anything, when we walked into Deli Donkatsu, the overall clean and cozy atmosphere made it great for eating as a family. The tables weren't cramped, and sunlight came in through the windows — a relaxed vibe for a leisurely lunch~

Ordering three: cheese cutlet, old-school Western-style cutlet, fish cutlet

That day we ordered three menu items: cheese cutlet, old-style Western cutlet (gyeongyangsik donkatsu), and fish cutlet~

The soup, morning bread, and jam combo especially brought back that classic old-school Korean Western-style restaurant feel — nostalgic, and I devoured the cream soup in no time, it'd been a while~

The vibe wasn't chaotic or crowded at all, but clean and comfortable, so it was fine eating there with a kid~

That day we shared the three dishes evenly, and it was so much better than just ordering one thing — we got to enjoy a much wider range of flavors~

Above all, sitting together with my mom and my kid, sharing warm soup and pork cutlets, it was such a relaxed and lovely time.

You can stuff the morning bread with the macaroni and salad that come alongside the cutlet, and it gives it a totally different feel — delicious~

Morning bread comes included as standard, but you can also order more for an extra ₩500~

Cheese cutlet at Deli Donkatsu

The cutlet was packed with cheese inside, so you really got that savory cheesy flavor, and eating it warm with the melted cheese was soft and delicious.

Adding cheese made my kid more interested in it than just plain cutlet~

Old-school Western-style pork cutlet (gyeongyangsik donkatsu)

And then the one I'd been looking forward to — the old-style Western cutlet~ It's an old-fashioned cutlet loaded with sauce, so if you personally like that style, this will feel familiar and comforting. Crispy fried cutlet paired with a sweet, rich sauce — exactly the flavor you picture when you think 'old-style Western cutlet'~ It came with rice, salad, and side dishes, so the whole plate felt pretty substantial.

We also ordered the fish cutlet, and since it'd been a while since I'd had one, it tasted even better — it reminded me of eating fish burgers at Lotteria all the time back in the day, haha. I know, I sound so old-school. But seriously, why don't burger places have fish burgers anymore these days? It was really good...

Why three people should order several dishes and share

Having three dishes on the table meant everyone could pick according to their own taste, which was great~ When you come with a kid, it can be awkward ordering just one menu item, but ordering several dishes to share like we did actually let us enjoy a variety of flavors~ These days we mostly eat Japanese-style cutlets, so it was nice that my mom, while eating this, said it reminded her of the old days — that made me happy too^^
