The showcase at Minimale Gwacheon also has egg tarts, salt bread, and financiers. The baton financier, a long-shaped one, is a new menu item made 100% by hand from dough to baking.

There's also babka in original, hotteok (Korean sweet pancake), and orange chocolat flavors, plus individually wrapped cookies.

Helsinki Latte with dunkel beans: the best latte I've had

The Helsinki Latte is Minimale's signature, best-seller, and steady favorite — and the flavor is genuinely excellent. It's not overly sweet but nutty, smooth, and deep in a way that feels special. I usually prefer nutty over acidic flavors so I chose dunkel, and wow… this latte was seriously the latte of my life!

Apparently it's a signature menu item based on a recipe found in Helsinki, Finland, and it's a bit different from a regular café latte. I deliberately didn't mix it and tasted it as is — slightly sweet and completely nutty. This deep a flavor??? Wow… I had to sip it slowly and savor it.

How did the nut babka and Portuguese egg tart taste?

Here's the babka and egg tart. The babka has a slightly crisp crust with a soft, flaky brioche-like interior, packed with chocolate filling and crunchy, nutty toppings — I meant to just taste it but ended up eating the whole thing…

The egg tart… I first tried this kind 20 years ago in Hong Kong and it was so good I went on a decade-long search for that taste in Korea — and I finally found it today. Filling that's not too rich, melt-in-your-mouth sweetness with zero greasiness, and even the flaky, crumbly crust was perfect! (And this one is given free if you do the review event 👍🏾)

The refrigerated showcase also has slice cakes, and lattes and cold brew are sold too. Buying a bottle to enjoy a home café moment later sounds great.

Wine is on sale too. The bussing station is near the counter, and there are baby chairs available.
