Is Minimale Coffee Roaster busy on weekend afternoons?
I've been to Minimale a few times during my work lunch break. On weekdays there are often no seats left — it's chaos 🫠 So this time I deliberately came on a late weekend afternoon instead!
But contrary to my expectations, it was still crowded even in the late afternoon on a weekend... Luckily there were still a few seats, so I didn't have to wait.

The signature Helsinki Latte, 5,200 won
Since I was at Minimale, I started with their signature menu, the Helsinki Latte. Apparently it recreates a latte the founder encountered during a trip to Helsinki, Finland, in Minimale's own style. It's known for its rich milk flavor and smoothness without bitterness!
Three Minimale pastries, ranked by taste
By my own preference! It went financier > egg tart > babka.
1. Caramel pecan baton financier, 3,300 won
Of the three, this was my top pick for its sweet-salty combo. It's one of Minimale's recently launched handmade baton financiers, this one adding pecan to caramel. If you're on the fence about which baked treat to pair with your coffee, this is a solid pick!
2. Portuguese egg tart, 2,800 won
A Portuguese-style egg tart with layers of baked tart shell filled with egg custard. Eating it brought back memories of the egg tarts I had in Porto 😋 It was so good I got an extra one through the review event and took it home to give to my husband!
3. O'chocolat babka, 6,500 won
Babka (braided sweet bread) originated with Jewish communities in Poland and Ukraine — a fermented dough filled and braided before baking. The name is said to come from a Slavic word for 'grandmother.' The one I ordered adds orange to dark chocolate. It ranked third for me, but if you love the chocolate-orange combo, your ranking might differ!
