Every time I come to Yeouido with my son we always end up at The Hyundai and I'd never actually been inside IFC Mall. While looking around I got hungry and started searching for a good tteokbokki spot to take a kid to, and it turned out Hyeonseonine had a branch right inside IFC Mall — so we went straight there.

Where is Hyeonseonine Premium in IFC Mall? Easy to miss on a first visit

If you've never been to Hyeonseonine, or like me, never been to IFC Mall at all, it can be tricky to find (it was for me!). The easy way: head toward Yeouido Station Exit 3, or go inside IFC Mall down to B2, then walk toward the subway station — you'll find Hyeonseonine right next to the GS convenience store.

The kitchen is open so anyone can check how clean it's kept, and you order through a kiosk right by the entrance. English and Chinese menus are supported, and takeout is available too, so you can grab Hyeonseonine's tteokbokki for a picnic by the Han River nearby.

Hyeonseonine started as a street food cart in 2004, and its tteokbokki alone has built a 20-year history of popularity. Once a Yongsan landmark, the brand now has a directly-run branch inside IFC Mall, so Yeouido locals can enjoy Hyeonseonine's tteokbokki too.

Menu lineup: from the kids' Baby Set to the instant beer set

At this Yeouido tteokbokki spot, the menu is posted big on the wall so it's easy to browse. It's split into single dishes, set menus, and instant menus. The single tteokbokki dish lets you choose from 3 spice levels, and there's even a Baby Set for anyone visiting with kids. There's also an instant beer set for enjoying tteokbokki with a beer, whether for a daytime drink or just something simple — so you can order to your taste.

Inside Hyeonseonine: seating and the self-serve bar

The interior of this Yeouido IFC lunch spot was clean and bright, and there were even outdoor tables, so overall there was plenty of seating. With both 2-seat and 4-seat tables, it looked good for solo dining as well as for coming with friends or family.

Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch runs review events on Naver, Google, and Daum, and I found it interesting that the free side dish you get differs depending on which platform you post to, haha.

In one corner of the store there was a water dispenser along with a self-serve bar where you could grab pickled radish, utensils, paper cups, salt and soy sauce, and wet wipes.

The Hyeonseoni Set at 23,000 won, mild spice, shared with my son

Since it was a late lunch and I was with just my son, we went with the Hyeonseoni Set. What impressed me was that they brought out fish cake broth without us even asking, haha — such a thoughtful touch.

Since I was eating with my son, I ordered the tteokbokki in mild spice — though he actually handles spicy food well, so he ate it happily!

The tteokbokki

Hyeonseonine's tteokbokki was well coated in sauce, made with chewy wheat rice cakes, and the portion was quite generous. Even though we'd come after the lunch peak, the rice cakes hadn't gone soft and were still nicely chewy — really tasty.

The sundae (Korean blood sausage)

The sundae (Korean blood sausage) had a good mix of liver and intestines, and the portion was quite large — I'd recommend the Hyeonseoni Set for two adults to share!

The sundae was packed full inside, and dipping it in the tteokbokki sauce made it twice as delicious, haha.

The fried snacks

With gimmari (fried seaweed rolls), vegetables, mandu, and squid, there was a wide variety of fried snacks to pick from, which made it fun..! The oil was well drained too, so it didn't feel greasy at all.

We ate the fried snacks alongside the tteokbokki or dipped in its sauce, and there was so much of it we thought we might burst..ㅎ

The mini gimbap (seaweed rice rolls)

My son's favorite part was the mini gimbap (seaweed rice rolls) — each roll came pre-cut into 3 pieces, which made it really easy to eat.

Even the mini gimbap was packed with all the fillings of regular gimbap, and it was genuinely delicious. As for how well it pairs with tteokbokki — no need to even say it..!

Is the Hyeonseoni Set enough for two people?

I'm usually not one to leave food behind, but the portions at Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall were so generous that I finally had to give in,, If you're looking for a Yeouido tteokbokki spot where two adults can eat well, or somewhere for a date or lunch with a kid at Yeouido IFC Mall, I'd recommend a delicious meal at Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall.
