In short

I had been meaning to visit after hearing that a great stone-plate jajangmyeon (black bean noodles) and jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) spot had newly opened in the Simhaksan dining neighborhood. I finally made it there today!

A new stone-plate Chinese restaurant at Simhaksan

The Paju sky has been so lovely lately~ Since it is a standalone ground-floor building, parking is easy. My anticipation exploded the moment I saw the exterior!

As the third new-town development takes shape, more and more restaurants are appearing around Simhaksan, which seems like a good thing for a local resident. “The restaurants near my home are evolving.”

Seeing the parking lot packed with cars, I guessed the dining room would be full too~

Food display at the restaurant entrance

The food visuals from the entrance alone made my appetite explode. As expected, it was packed with customers at lunchtime. While we waited for a table to be cleared, I took photos, looked at the Paju sky, and waited for my companions—and before I knew it, 30 minutes had passed.

Here is the country-of-origin information for reference. Giant squid and octopus are from China because they are not caught here, haha. Most of the ingredients are domestic though. 👍

Today, we said, “Stone-plate jajang today! Stone-plate jjamppong next week. The order does not matter!”

Medium is okay for four people / large is okay for two people / don't worry about appearances—order the amount you need.

These days, everywhere requires one menu item per person, but this place openly tells you to order comfortably. Owner~~~ I hope you hit it big!!! I will come often. Bowls of rice are free too! Order however you want! This is already a successful restaurant ♡♡♡

Unlimited rice refill information

Unlimited refills on bowls of rice!!! The owner's service is the best. At the self-service corner, you can comfortably refill pa-kimchi (green onion kimchi), danmuji (pickled radish), and more.

Doljajang and the Dontang & Chitang Set

Today's menu was medium doljajang plus the Dontang & Chitang Set. After a short wait, our food arrived~

The biggest signature here is that the food is served not in ordinary bowls but on specially made stone plates. The greatest advantage is being able to enjoy it hot right through the last bite!

A crispy nurungji finish to the stone-plate jajang

The nurungji stone-plate jajang, the number-one popular dish, has crispy nurungji (scorched rice) lining the bottom of the stone plate, topped with abundant rich sauce and noodles. After finishing the noodles, scraping up the nurungji stuck to the bottom is such a satisfying little pleasure.

There were really lots of shrimp in it, and nurungji on the bottom too~ I enjoyed it so much!

The Dontang & Chitang Set has arrived.

Dontang & Chitang Set

My companions had cola~ and I ordered a grapefruit drink alongside it. The jajang sizzling and bubbling on the hot stone plate looks genuinely delicious, right~ You can choose from several spice levels too. My companions prefer mild food, so we ordered mild today, but honestly, I thought it would be even better with a little more heat.

Why I recommend it for dates and family gatherings

With distinctive, excellent flavors and visuals, it would make a memorable Paju date spot to visit with your partner.

The restaurant is spacious and the tables are comfortably separated, so it is also a good option for weekend family meals or group gatherings.

There are desserts too: yogurt and snacks~~ I was too full, so I passed~ They are also running various events, including coupons for free soft drinks when you opt in for notifications, so be sure to claim the benefits when you visit~

That was my visit to Dolpanseok Jjamppong Paju Simhaksan Branch, a Paju restaurant where I enjoyed a different kind of Chinese meal on a warm stone plate.
